Dozet is a DJ/Producer hailing from Novi Sad, Serbia. He is a part of the event collective called "Acropolis" that is dedicated to pushing the limits of Drum & Bass Music.

"Knickerbockers" is a forward-thinking take on Ghetto Slam, combining many genres and taking inspiration from Levela, Imanu and Buunshin. The ugly foghorn sounds were made by using a sound from a real ship horn and combining it with a foghorn sample.

This track is part of Nu Kvlture's 2nd compilation EP "Vol.2" which features tunes from up to 40 artists and spanning between 100-170bpm. This EP has done the rounds from artists such as LCY, A.Fruit, Gremlinz as well as shows on Rinse FM & Boiler Room.

Finishing off Henzo’s banner 2022 that has seen releases on YCO and Peder Mannerfelt Produktion, the Manchester based producer dials back the tempo into 5 cuts of gloom-ridden dancefloor damagers for his Nervous Horizon debut. Running the gamut of Dancehall, Techno and Drum & Bass, the EP’s refined palette is laser-guided in its intention of favouring groove and atmosphere over melody and hooks.

The opening track, 'Survivorship Bias', rolls out a lurching and smudged drum break over an equally sketchy Donk and vocal sample in a Bolton-meets-Belgium chug affair. 'It’s Ours and Hours Alone' and 'Writhing' lean more towards a typical Dancehall rhythm, smattered with the reticulated percussion that Nervous Horizon have been known for, saturated and growling. 'His Troublesome Knees' sees a variation on the theme of the opener, with the addition of harrowing, gnarly strings that posit drama in the riff that runs almost throughout; An inescapable tension that juxtaposes the highly danceable groove. Rounding out Stretford Blues, 'A Pocket You Didn’t Expect' feels like 3 tempos at once: 82, 164 and 328BPM. The battering, unrelenting kicks laced over taut breaks and hats hark to Jungle Techno and Tech Step in their composition, but the drawn out and bleak orchestral breakdown, coupled with a barking, irate bassline, suggest that Henzo shows no allegiance to nostalgia and is moving intently into the future.

The third entry into our Crux singles series comes from Circular Square, currently one of Brussel’s secret gems, but clearly on the verge of blowing up. Circular Square’s seemingly natural skill at crafting exciting interzones of bass-heavy club acrobatics and melodic realms, prime his productions for both adventurous dancefloors and deeper home immersion.

As the central piece, 3-HT-(xon) finds an equilibrium between its surgical drum stitches, swaths of glassy chimes and rapturous flutes. That balance tips a bit as lush, almost pastoral elements come to the fore half-way through, before the drums regain their ground.

Swiveling hi-hats surround a mighty, prowling bass on GBS_02x, an expertly crafted minimalist and stealthy pouncer, that successfully wrings every last drop of momentum out of its carefully selected components. As an addition, Leese’s snakey flip reconstructs its stagger into a rolling parade of tribal percussion, intermittent vocal stabs and cavernous drop-outs, mastering the fine art of remixing that is true to the original, while still bearing the unmistakable handwriting of the remixer.

The only close thing he could find was that daft punk CD he rented at the library...

This track is the first of a serie that tries to reignite lost, blurred memories of greyish plastic & afternoons of boredom spent in your child's room in the early 2000's.

'Morphers' is a rattling 3 tunes split that was forged between French producer Flore and San Francisco’s Only Now. The release represents the unwritten language shared between both friends over the past 7 years, with their affinity for propulsive percussion workouts and livewire bass music. After releasing on the POLAAR label for years, Only Now and Flore finally met in person for a collab long awaited.

“Collaborating with someone on the production side is not something I’m used to “- says Flore. “It is like a non-verbal communication and its interplay of perspectives. But I think that Kush and I share a same sonic language and this new experience pushed us to embrace the unpredictability and subjectivity inherent in this new creative process.”

The story began in Paris when Flore invited Only Now to come play at her POLAAR night at la Station. A couple of days later they met again at Tim Karbon’s studio, and sketched out ideas. It shaped into a tune made by their 4 hands (« Morphers ») and « Cut & Run », a tune revisited in 2 versions, with their own slant, but trying to keep an even balance between each producer.

Flore’s take on « Cut & Run » encapsulates the essence of big sound system influence. Dub-infused rhythms morph seamlessly into widescreen sound design elements, creating a unique dialect that invites you to decipher its ethereal symbols.

Clemency presents References - her debut EP for Finn’s 2 B REAL. Three deceptively simple percussive pieces, both awkward and elegant.

Each track on the EP feels almost living and breathing; sparse, dissonant synths meet intricate drums and juddering basslines, effortlessly creating momentum and motion across the record.

‘References’ is Bethany Clements Patrick’s first EP under the Clemency alias. She’s a regular behind the decks at Partisan, Soup Kitchen & The White Hotel, and co-runs Manchester’s Mutualism club night, label & NTS show.

Using causality and repetition as a conceptual framework, the release comes with a selection of Clemency’s own references for the record, which includes poetry, literature, geographic coordinates, music and cosmetics - presented at clemencyreferenc.es
