Inspired by Hip Hop, Soul, Jazz, and Funk to name a few, the North Carolina based producer has been making music for over ten years. He primarily uses the Maschine blending his love of sampling and musicianship together to create new pieces. He is currently a member of We Grow Wax, an international collective of producers musicians.

My Long story:
In 2005 I came across a copy of FL Studio 4 and started making beats with no musical background, just armed with a laundry list of usual suspects for inspiration (Pete Rock, DJ Premier, 9th Wonder, etc.). Sampling primarily from great P2P programs like Kazaa and Bearshare, I moved on from downloading random MP3s and started chopping up records. After about a year of this, I felt a bit limited and wanted to explore other avenues, so I eventually started incorporating original instrumentation into my works. Along the way I began to rely more heavily on a broader list of musical influences from various genres. Within the realm of Hip Hop, some artists include The Roots, J Dilla, and 20Syl of Hocus Pocus. These three have had a very large influence on the sound that I present today, which primarily consists of original instrumentation, with traces of my earlier years of heavy sampling.

Formed in Providence, RI in 2008, MANWOMANCHILD's music merges strong melodies with 70s-style glam rock swagger and a unique lyrical sensibility, and their sound has been compared to Lou Reed’s solo work as well as early Bowie. Other major influences include T. Rex, The Modern Lovers, and the Soft Boys / Robyn Hitchcock.

In 2009, MANWOMANCHILD recorded its first full-length at Machines With Magnets—a studio best known for its recent work with Battles, Clap Your Hands Say Yeah, and Lightning Bolt, among others. The completed album finds singer/guitarist David Child joining forces with bassist Craig Gifford and drummer Mason Neely, yielding dynamic yet tightly crafted arrangements that underscore the jaunty guitar hooks and ever-so-slightly gritty vocals.
