In this melodic project, Mara collaborates with her (imaginary) friends in a search to tell tales in a different tune.

Mara and the Pillows was born on August 2010, in a tiny appartment at the eastern outskirts of Amsterdam, the Netherlands.

The sound mainly consists out of vocals, vocal instruments, samples/field recordings and instruments made out of household equipment (mainly due to the lack of more 'real' instruments), plus, a guitar and a clarinet.

Strong influences are fairy tales, myth and folklore. The cold and barren nordic/arctic lands. 20' to 40's music, blues, jazz. Poetry. Nerds.
