Stayed is an album about the kinds of love that don’t shout, but linger. Built on quiet moments, half-closed doors, and the echoes of words never said, each track traces the soft ache of connection—how it forms, how it frays, and how it somehow endures. These aren’t grand declarations. They’re confessions left on voice memos. Glances held too long. Goodbyes that felt like maybe.

With textures ranging from ambient folk to cinematic indie, Stayed drifts through longing, memory, and stillness. Some songs ask to be heard in headphones at midnight. Others belong to empty roads or rooms that still hold someone’s scent.

This is not an album about falling in love.
It’s an album about the people who never left you—
even when they did.

That Rock and Roll Man

I wrote this in my 20s in the Apartheid era as a tribute to the many people we lost.

During this time our home and our church were invaded by the Special Branch while we were holding meetings. Our phone was tapped, and at work I received a scare call from the Wit Wolf that a bomb was placed in our legal offices. And yet my anti-apartheid involvement was very light-touch and perfectly legal! Heady days indeed.

Turning and burning in the heat, of hearth and fire 
The feathers, the letters, the fingers form a winged spire
There’s flapping and scurrying aloft up in the rafters 
Where the bats are left to read and the finger moves on higher

The choir cannot lift the ceiling
The spinning wedding ceiling
Stealing
