“January Eleven” was composed on January 11, 2025, while devastating fires were raging near the Los Angeles area. On that day, a displaced family found refuge in my home, their spirits unwavering despite uncertain circumstances. Their optimism stood in stark contrast to the looming threat of the flames, reminding me how quickly our comforts can slip away. This neoclassical solo piano piece channels the turmoil into a soothing, reflective sound, evoking both the fragility of our possessions and the strength of a community that unites in times of crisis. It’s a testament to resilience, hope, and the power of compassion.

January Eleven

"Dust and Grace" came together during another late night creative session at La Lande with just my MacBook Pro. It was inspired by the ongoing construction at the Grand Salon, which I could see whenever I walked out of my room. I ended up programming everything note by note using Logic X's piano roll and a collection of VST instruments, a pretty tedious process when you're building each part from scratch. My lyric writing is instinctive. I go with whatever feels right melodically, then work to make everything else fit around that foundation. I'll freestyle into voice memos until the words start forming into something that makes sense (or probably still doesn't). It's as if the song already exists somewhere, and I'm just trying to discover it. And yes, I use RhymeZone more than I'd like to admit. The music style was inspired by the type of music Stephanie used on her previous videos.

A piece for my wife, inspired by the late James Horner:

A tender, luminous, and textural piece. The idea was to use James Horner’s technique of using high-register piano and harp ostinatos (quasi-random notes) as the primary texture. Strings play with broad, rising swells. The trick is to let the harmony and phrasing imply the melodic shape of the theme. This was done back in 2022 with access to my minimalistic home studio.

I'm a composer, songwriter, and technologist working across genres, from cinematic scores to alternative rock and stripped-back acoustic. I create mostly by ear, guided by instinct and emotional tone, with a grounding in early piano, vocal training, and music theory fundamentals.

I often process the world musically, moments, people, or emotional energy can spark melodies or textures in my mind. Some call it synaesthesia, but for me, it's just part of how I work.

Most tracks start with a voice note or a musical fragment, then evolve through piano, guitar and production tools. Lyrics follow the same instinctive path, glimpsed, assembled, refined. I work in Logic Pro X using Kontakt, EastWest, Arcade, Scalar, Steinberg, Waves, and Kits.ai (ethically licensed vocal models).

I've performed live, but I'm most at home writing in solitude. Some tracks are polished, some rough, but each aims to capture something emotionally honest. If a song lands with you, then it was for you.
