The SPECIAL DELIVERY – the vinyl iteration of I'm A Cliché's EDIT SERVICE – is back. After last year's first instalment in the series that featured acclaimed edits by Red Axes and Rouge Mécanique, this time around we commit to wax four edits that come courtesy of Mannequin Records' A.A. We'll let you connoisseurs trace back the originals.

A1. Systa — Driven by female vocals and a LinnDrum groove this mid-tempo edit is a melodic and elegant affair. As the track progresses it becomes more and more ominous and there is no doubt you’ll witness the dance floor breaking down while it’s played.

A2. Atema — An uptempo number where production and vocals harken back to the sound of Italian new wave. Culled from an ultra rare cassette-only release, this is a compelling track that will make everybody feel the rhythm of the dance. 

B1. Pava — Another reminder that Italian film soundtracks from the late 70’s and early 80’s are absolute gold mines. This number where bass guitar, live drums and a fair share of analog keyboards are used truly stands out thanks to its plodding groove and slow motion dance-inducing rhythm. Perfect for warm-ups or wind-downs. 

B2. Lapi — If there’s a banger on the EP, this is it. Retro-futuristic, dark and catchy this rare minimal wave cut is quite irresistible and this edit is bound to cause some interesting damage on the dance floor.

Each copy is hand-stamped and come with an exclusive poster (40x60cm) folded and inserted in a picture disc-style PVC sleeve.

Special Delivery 002 — A1. Systa

this is a demo of a track a made back in 1995 and never released.

So here we are with Riotvan's second installment of the "Familiar Faces", showcasing what's happening with the label these days (a lot), making label-residents shake hands and welcome affiliated folks to the syndicate. Although this is a 'various artists'-format, the here gathered stylistic approaches and track-turned mindsets make a strikingly coherent body of work. Just another evidence of how Riotvan has evolved into a renowned think tank of likeminded artists and indicator of state of the art sonic bliss. 

Kicking off we find Perel immersing in yet another synth-driven stream, seeking continuation to her latest, widely praised full length-cycle, but this time bypassing Venus or rather "Super Venus" while floating off to other otherworldly dimensions.

Next in line are Black Spuma, i.e. Lauer and Fabrizio Mammarella, demonstrating via "Drumbaeck" what a match in Neo-Disco-heaven they are. A highly energetic beat, laying the grounding for a cheerful synth-hook and harmonies you won't get out of your head anytime soon.

Same goes for "Tropical Redux", the follow up by none other than Panthera Krause. A particularly elated affair, carried out by a funked up bassline and a catchy string-theme, sticking its neck out in Disco-realms, while maintaining a primetime-adjusted groove.

At this point it's about time for a premiere. Say hi to New Hook, an all-female power-force with their debut release. "FXART" comes as a well-versed exercise in reviving frigid 80ies leanings with a contemporary urgency and attitude. And that's just a glimpse on what's to come from Linda, Ilka and Juliane.

Chinaski, definitely no stranger to the Riotvan family, is taking on the 80ies vibe and hands in "Zeichen der Zeit", an unhasting ride through various galaxies, combining nostalgic synth-aesthetics with spaced out futurism.

Closing things off, it's label-mainstay Jennifer Touch cutting deep with "Bleed", an almost existentially emotive composition, exploring spiritual abysses lyrically, re-modelling emotional chaos within the overtones of the arrangement and even trimming things down to physical functionality within the track's progression.

Endless Revisions – Chloé's first LP in over six years – saw the musician turn a new leaf in her creative journey. Not content with pushing the boundaries of her creative output with this wider palette of an album, Chloé released Endless Revisions Live,  which saw the producer graft the new material and inspiration that came out while playing live on stage back onto the album’s compositions.  

 

Following The Dawn and Recall, it was time to deliver other versions of the album's tracks. Enter this four-remix EP, imprinted with the almost-opposite horizons of top-shelf producers.  

 

Still under the influence of Alain Chamfort's narrative chant, Androgyne is stripped of its post-disco dimension by French iconoclast Flavien Berger. On his version, the prince of psychedelic pop takes the title through turbulent and exotic territories, resulting in a long fever dream à la Yves Simon, complete with emotional, disarming touches. 

 

Englishman Fort Romeau speeds up the langourous The Backlash, delivering a deep techno version with a retro-futuristic dimension that preserves the original's persistent dimension.  

 

Mexico's Iñigo Vontier, whose memorable Aluxes EP came out on Lumière Noire mere months ago, provides a resolutely Baroque interpretation of Party Moonster, dressed up in spellbinding arpeggios and a house rhythm that juggles with Chloé's vocodered voice.  

 

Finally, Canadian producer Marc Houle revisits the second half of the album's highlight. The Minus stalwart imbues The Ultimate High with a more airborne drive, resulting in a perfectly chiseled techno diamond.

OB004 - Heisenbug and Time Signals collaborates for MARATHON. It is a musical time travel back to the 1990's -2000's to the small town up North in Lithuania - Joniškis. To the time when Berlin's 'Love Parade' grew in all our hearts and when the first dance music bars and clubs have been born in Lithuania. In Joniškis at that time, dance marathons took place, where people once danced non-stop for 20-30 hours. Without any booze or drugs, driven only by love for music and dance... So the fourth release is also full of love, and also full of honest 90's vibe.

Italo Deviance (real name Marcello Giordani) began his artistic journey in the
1990s in Italy, during the height of the House Music phenomenon. He was an
avid attendee of record fairs, always on the hunt for USA-style Disco vinyl,
amassing an extensive collection. He also performed at some of Italy’s best
parties, such as Cocoricò, Echoes, Matis, Kinki and more.

In the early 2000s, he developed a passion for and began collecting Italo
Disco vinyl, often for just a few cents. In 2008, he founded a blog called Italo
Deviance with the mission of promoting the most obscure tracks and
versions of early 1980s Italian dance music.

From 2011 to 2023, he became part of the duo Marvin & Guy, which has
since evolved into Circle Point Circle. At the start of 2024, Marcello resumed
work on his label, Italo Deviance Music, embarking on a rebranding effort.
This new phase explores underground electronic music without sticking to a
specific genre, discovering and producing talented artists in both digital and
vinyl formats. He places no particular emphasis on their social media hype,
focusing solely on the music.

This philosophy gave rise to the motto:
“Italo Deviance, where only the music matters.”
