Though it would be presumptuous to predict a *Track of Summer 2016* in the modest month of April – sod that, we're going to do it anyway. After a short while finely tuning the sample-based house and disco ReGraded sub-label, Midland reopens the doors to his original Graded imprint with a release that's well worth shouting about. Catalogue number #003 comes in the form of three-track Blush EP, with an opening title track that highlighted Midland's own BR set at Dekmantel last summer. A token example of Midland's ability to create authentic, instantly catchy dance music – with a hook that's guaranteed to woo hearts across many dancefloors worldwide.

Glowing Palms - Koh (STW Premiere)

Hailing from Los Angeles, and having previously appeared on Peoples Potential Unlimited, Benedek hit us big time earlier this year with a joint effort with Tom Noble out on Superior Elevation Records, the Ocean Side / Airwayz EP. The man is back already with the splendid solo EP "Coolin'", previously released on tape via Leaving Records, and now available on wax thanks to Brooklyn based label Arcane. A side's closing track premiered here is the fast-paced "Afterglo", driven by a metronomic drum machine and a groovy bass, that reaches balearic status thanks to its delayed guitars à la Roxy Music and dreamy digital bells. This is most definitely this Summer's driving soundtrack and it's already out everywhere !

After Marcin Krupa and Astrobuhloone, next up on the "Astropical Tapes" imprint comes from Boryn, half of Astro Buhloone duo. This time his solo debut EP called  "The Same" is backed with a sun-soaked housey remix by Manchester rising talent "Loz Goddard" who has made a name for himself through his eps for Secret Reels, Razor-N-Tape, Outplay or Dirt Crew . Limited vinyl only.

Seb Wildblood, one of the driving forces behind Church Records, makes his debut on Let’s Play House with an EP called ‘Familiar Boundaries’.

The first of the four tracks ‘Necessary Happiness’ sets the tone of the EP with chilled house beats featuring keys by Paul Cut.

An embellished and brighter version of the first track is repeated later with a mix by Mad Sax.

Seb finishes things off with ‘Pass the Pen’, a jazzy hip-hop beat accompanied with loose instrumentals.

Spencer Warren aka Grey Code is a name that has been circling the underground scene now for some time. With support and plays from BBC Radio 1, Noisia and Ninja Ninja D&B, this Bristol/Brighton dwelling producer is making waves with all the right heads and now brings forth his next release forthcoming on Principle Records; ‘Fall From Grace // Node Fiber’.

 ‘Node Fiber’ sits on the B side of this weighty release; an uncompromising mix of hard hitting drum patterns & stomach churning sub bass, this creeper constantly switches throughout. Drifting between hard, steppy licks, stabbing pad melodies and aggressive sub bass and accompanied by the distinct sound of that classic metallic percussion, the entire track embodies an ‘out of this world’ feel once again. The second drop switches up the vibe for a final time, with the kick pattern adding that extra switch and pushing the track to its peak. Another well crafted offering from the boys over at Principle Records and of course the man himself, Grey Code.

The A1 from Trudge's release on Lost Palms titled Last Night She Left The Ground, starts out with a hectic assortment of drums, bass, and hi-hats but gradually begins blending in an array of dreamy synths and pads to give the song a lighter, more elated feel than what it’s opening moments might signify. After the build-up, Trudge elects to break the tension by introducing muddled, female vocals that increase the moodiness of the tune. When all these elements are taken in together, they act to create an atmosphere that is touching, but vague in nature. For instance, who is this girl speaking? What does she want? Is she in need of help? I think these questions that the song conjures up are done intentionally and are meant to have the listener answer them depending on the mood they are in when they're listening. This makes “Last Night She Left The Ground” a tune that can be utilized for many occasions; whether that be moments of pure euphoria on a dancefloor or solemn periods of self-reflection in front of your laptop.

Kisstory Old Skool Mix

Lumberjacks in Hell has been founded in 2010. Intimate Friends followed in 2013. For some people the difference or the need for distinction between these two is quite evident but to give you an idea. Lumberjacks is always 100% for the dance floor, inspired by the music from Chicago and Detroit which is not only reflected in the Artists we release. Intimate Friends is a headier affair. Soul, Hip Hop and House are all fair game. If you check the releases next to each other both labels have a distinct sound. And maybe a certain BPM range. This isn't saying that some of the music couldn't have appeared on either label but somehow it all makes sense to me. Thanks for supporting the music and artists we are releasing and don't hesitate to get in touch! We love to hear from you,
