Helena Guedes is a Porto based DJ who's been creating waves in her hometown with her diverse sets mixing jazz, soul, funk, hip-hop, boogie, disco and house.
Starting out in her teens as a music lover and digger immersed in soul, funk, disco, latin jazz, hip-hop and Chicago and Detroit's own distinctive sounds, through to the acid jazz and broken beat scenes emmerging from the UK, Helena has been spreading good vibes at some of the more discerning venues and web radios in Porto and Lisbon and in a relatively short career has played alongside names such as Mr. Scruff, Dimitri from Paris, Theo Parrish, Moodymann, Masters at Work and Jayda G.
Helena holds a monthly residency at club Alma in Porto where she’s been able to showcase her hability to rock a dancefloor with her all-night sets and she’s often invited to play alonside guest DJ’s at some major venues in her hometown.

2019 was a turning point for her, being invited to play outside Portugal and becoming acknowledged for her endless curiosity and passion about all things jazz, soul, boogie and disco.
She's currently hosting a residency show at the respected portuguese web radio and cultural agitator Alinea A where she invites other emerging local DJ's, vinyl collectors and music lovers.

Lumberjacks in Hell has been founded in 2010. Intimate Friends followed in 2013. For some people the difference or the need for distinction between these two is quite evident but to give you an idea. Lumberjacks is always 100% for the dance floor, inspired by the music from Chicago and Detroit which is not only reflected in the Artists we release. Intimate Friends is a headier affair. Soul, Hip Hop and House are all fair game. If you check the releases next to each other both labels have a distinct sound. And maybe a certain BPM range. This isn't saying that some of the music couldn't have appeared on either label but somehow it all makes sense to me. Thanks for supporting the music and artists we are releasing and don't hesitate to get in touch! We love to hear from you,
