You seem to be doing just fine with the mixing etc! I know what you mean about impatience. Although I've just started to record a few I've got lots of unfinished stuff going back nearly 30 years! If I can't find the next line I usually just leave it.

I think it was lock down that started me thinking about trying to seriously learn all I can about the whole process. Can't say my wife's been too happy about it though! I can't blame her really. I've turned our living room into a very basic studio 

I worked my way through the various tracks I've written and recorded and selected 1 track from each of my shorter EPs and 2 from each album, starting with the earliest recording.  They are probably my favourites from each, but often don't match with the most played songs!  But this would be a starting point for a live setlist for me I think

"I Just Can't Live Without You" (demo v1)

A short demo song made on September 5, 2024, still under development, e.g. lacking a second verse, bridge and modulation etc. Since the name "Never Gonna Give You Up" is already taken I have to think of another one:) One possible alternative could be "I Just Can't Live Without You". This tune came into my mind when thinking about the chords and progressions in my earlier song "Peace".

This was made and played by me using sounds e.g. from Yamaha Montage 8 (TX816 Electric Piano), Keyscape (Roland MKS-20 EP sound), Arturia Jup-8 V (Horns), UVI Ultramini & Arturia Mini-V (Moog bass sound) and UVI PX Memories (cf. Memorymoog mod).

Mastered on Ozone 11.

I'm certainly not a lyricist, but the idea here was that the lyrics in the chorus would be something like this:

I'm never gonna let you down [etc.]

I'm always gonna bring you up / I'm always gonna cheer you up

Im never gonna let you down

I just can't live without you
....

With influences ranging from the lofi pop of Guided by Voices, the gothic melodrama of Nick Cave, the glam of Bowie and the nakedness of Iggy Pop - this is Marc Freak.  Former frontman of Freak Circus and Dead Joe.  An experiment in DIY and lofi.  The odd bum note here, the even odder bum note there.  But with art do we care?
