I start my songs the same way every time: with a moment I don’t want to lose. A voice note, a melody that arrives out of nowhere, a rhythm I tap out without thinking. I grab the spark quickly before it fades, and that first fragment becomes the heart of everything that follows.

From there, I build around it using my own voice as the backbone, adding live instruments as the idea grows. I shape the whole piece from that original performance, turning sketched rhythms and sung lines into harmonies, textures and layers until the idea reveals its full form. The process is fast, instinctive and a bit messy, and that’s exactly why I love it.

I’ve spent years producing and performing, but this approach brought me back to something I didn’t realise I’d been missing: the feeling of creating in real time. That quiet thrill of hearing a song unfold moment by moment.
