After the acclaimed success of their 2017 sophomore LP, Germanys much-loved House duo Tube & Berger are set to release the first instalment of their stellar remix package, We Are All Stars Remixes (Part 1), via their renowned co-owned imprint, Kittball Records, on 11th May. The full package will be spilt into 2 parts and boast remixes from some of dance musics finest stars, with Frances established House DJ/producers Amine Edge & Dance kicking Part 1 off in style, delivering a tasty groove-laden Tech House workout of the albums first single Ruckus a track which held the #1 spot on Beatports Deep House chart for EIGHT weeks. Next, Germanys illustrious Format:B step up to put their own unique spin on the politically-charged anthem International Corporate Motherfuckers, turning it in to a chunky dancefloor-ready groover that boasts snippets of the originals sublime detuned vocal and synth melody. Norways Djuma Soundsystem & Westerbys rework of Fetzen follows, serving up a very unique-sounding African-tinged House music extravaganza which expertly utilises some of the originals key elements. Last but not least, German newcomer duo Roumex deliver a stunning re-rub of the LPs fourth single Dust Feel, opting to fully utilise the divine vocals of Richard Judge and place them on top of a dramatic melodic Trance-esque House backing to conclude the release. Over a period of seventeen years, Damian Lazarus’ Crosstown Rebels has evolved into a world-renowned institution, garnering global audiences thanks to a consistent schedule of quality releases. Quintessential to the label’s success is the Spirits series, with each edition acting as a musical bastion to showcase the talents of both established and breakthrough artists alike. Now, after much anticipation, the world-renowned compilation will see the light of day once more in the form of Spirits IV, the fourth installment in Spirits’ ever-evolving saga. A mixed version of the album will also be included in the release, as a digital bonus track.

Ahead of its release, label-founder Damian Lazarus described the ethos behind the series: “The Spirits series is a very important platform for incredible new club music, often created by up and coming artists. The tracks are tried and tested over a twelve month
period by myself at parties and no stone is left unturned to ensure the absolute quality of every cut on the album. Deep, twisted
and beautiful music for the dancefloors of tomorrow.” 

That last sentence is epitomised in the compilation’s very beginning, as Alex Kennon and Pete Tong’s Apache leads with a stirring intensity, gently winding between spirit-healing vocals and resonant kick-hat combos. Echoe-founder Francesca Lombardo showcases her decade-long production experience in Freak On Sea, providing a dubby-leaning club cut that features progressive key changes throughout before Martin Badder and Pablo:Rita’s stunning collaboration, Phase, soon arrives in its place, rippling with a gentle lucidity thanks to a subtle four-four bassline and mesmeric singing tones. 

ANTS regular Andrea Oliva takes no prisoners on Rawman, serving up a near six-minute cut of pummeling kicks that build into a brooding synth-fuelled crescendo, whilst Russian-born up-and-comer Artur Nikolaev showcases his inherent artistic expression on Alma, creating an eleven-minute voyage into minimal techno’s deeper realm with stripped-back bass and hypnotic vocal samples. California’s Lubelski teams up with singer-songwriter Xkylar on Passion Fruits, a track that dives between slow-burning percussion and emotion-lead pads, paving the way for I See Colour, the latest collaboration from UK-native Luke Brancaccio and long-standing production partner Cypherpunx. Crosstown Rebels regular Made By Pete makes his Spirits debut next, presenting a tribal-laced mystic number in the form of Harar before Turkey’s leading exponent Ali Kuru teams up with Nublu Records founder Ilhan Ersahin on the jazz-dotted, Middle-Eastern inspired Eplos. Super Natural quickens the pace courtesy of enigmatic Barbados-born talent Murr, alongside Rosina’s ethereal vocal offerings that enchant as much as they delight, whilst veteran
German producer DJ Linus gives us the penultimate track on Vibes In Space. Indicative of the track’s progression, we are taken on a celestial journey through starry-eyed synths and soft whispering hats, leading neatly into the compilation’s closing saga in the form of Matador’s Vulture, a straight-talking dancefloor cut that showcases the Rukus-founder at his best.

Marco Resmann (Upon.You Berlin) Biography

Berlin. The mid 90s. The home and the heart of electronic music with its flourishing scene embracing all kinds of genres from Techno to House and beyond, with tapes on circulation, regular radio shows and an annual climax named Loveparade.

Brought up on this wide ranged diet of electronic sounds Marco Resmann started to work on what should become his profession of the future. Led by his neverending love for House Music he stepped up on stage, eventually started to promote parties and built his Audiogain studio where he continuously honed and refined his production skills on analogue gear.

Soon this steady work paid off in form of a first release on Martin Landsky's Intim Recordings as well as other highly acclaimed 12“es under his former artist alias Phage. Around this time in the mid-noughties Marco Resmann also became part of the production force named Pan-Pot which redefined the trippier side of Minimal Techno in these days. 

Apart from these projects, it was another fruitful collaboration that was meant to last. After meeting and immediately clicking with Norman Weber they started to DJ together on a regular basis before they joined forces in the studio, establishing their project Luna City Express as a main project of Moon Harbour Recordings with numerous EP's, Remixes and a widely praised album named Hello From Planet Earth, all of them providing tasteful, open minded House Music from Germany.

Backed by this experience and an excellent reputation as a DJ Marco Resmann joined the world famous Berlin-based Watergate club as resident in 2006 and has played countless nights in this hallowed space ever since as well as graced the tenth anniversary volume of the Watergate Mix-CD series with a flawless tour de force ride through his personal club favorites and anthems in February 2012 – a mix that can be considered a milestone in his remarkable career so far. 

As solo producer his discography includes acclaimed remixes and releases on imprints like Watergate Records, Upon.You, Poker Flat and the Brazilian imprint Warung Recordings, all of which are serving a unique fusion of House and Techno with a recognizable twist and a love for detailed, complex arrangements.

But there's even more to Marco Resmann than being the expert producer who fully masters his craft and DJ who is playing out to devoted crowds on a regular. Hosting Upon.You label nights at Berlin's famous Panorama Bar for six years has played an essential role in Marco Resmann's approach towards extended DJ sets with whom he pleases crowds all over the globe – from German festival sites like Fusion and Melt! to internationally renowned venues like DC10, Upon.You showcases all over Europe or the big 20 Years Watergate Brazil tour which took place in Brazilian superclubs like Surreal Park, D-Edge, Cultive and many others. Not to mention upcoming tours in Australia, Mexico and, again, Brazil where he is greeted by an especially dedicated, loving followership whenever he touches down in this part of the world.

As co-founder of the Berlin-based Upon.You Records, one of the major forces in the international club scene since 2007, Marco Resmann has been spotting upcoming talent and consistently invested dedicated, straight-up work in the house he and his labelmates have built.

With his most recent release „Box In A Box EP“ which will be released on his own imprint end of November - it's quite right to say that Marco Resmann is going stronger than ever, armed and fully equipped for an amazing 2023 to come. Watch out!
