With David Morales returning to play for FAC51 The Haçienda for the first time in seven years, headlining The Warehouse Project on Boxing Day, David has kindly supplied an exclusive one hour mix of classic Haçienda tunes, which he considers his salute to the music and spirit of the original Haçienda.

The stylish set puts together many of The Hac's and David's finest records from the late Eighties and early Nineties period, mixing disco, Italian house, and soulful garage styles in a seamlessly mixed testament to the strength and depth of music then.

Kicking off with the elegant strings of a laid back take on FPI Project's "Rich In Paradise", the original extended 12 inch version of Frankie Knuckles and Robert Owen's "Tears" follows before some nimble production tricks bring in the classic stabs and orders to groove of Inner City's "Big Fun". 

A light tempo runs throughout the set, with most tracks played in full with extended mixes as Black Box's "Ride On Time" and its Lolleatta Holloway vocal takes charge in all its glory before David's own seminal classic, the original Def Mix version of Robert Owen's "I'll Be Your Friend" is unleashed with its ever contemporary atmosphere of lustful, deep, tribal US clubs.

X-Press 2's "Muzik Xpress", the original 12 inch version of Alison Limerick's "Where Love Lives" and the stepped back soul of Benny Benassi's version of Black Box's "Everybody Everybody" all appear in the second half hour of the set while the delicate pianos of Soft House Company's "What You Need" brings the mix to the close in what proves a round up of many of the biggest track that shaped dance music some two decades ago during The Hacienda's original heyday.

ust as the Phoenix rises from the ashes, so shall the music industry from its latest state.  This is how Marcus Johnson feels and is why he has titled his latest release on his Three Keys Music label, The Phoenix.  On this CD, this Washington, DC-area native continues with his urban grooves that have become his signature sound. 

The CD opens with “Side-Steppin,” a very heavy beat-driven tune.  Sax is provided by Phillip Martin and is quite soulful playing almost note for note with the piano.  It’s a great way to open up the album.  “Potomac Ridge” is another great piano/sax pairing with a fun melody.

The CDs first released single is “Road to Los Suenos.”  With the background vocals from Nikki Gonzalez and guitar from Stanley Cooper adding to the depth and groove, Marcus’ fingers just fly across the keys, making this the most energetic tune on the CD.  The samba feel makes you want to dance the whole way through.  “Believe” is all piano, which truly showcases the talent of Marcus Johnson.  “Love” features vocalist Frank McComb in a Stevie Wonder-like song.

Next up is “Table For 2.”  Again Marcus’ piano is accompanied by Phillip Martin on sax.  This is a great smooth jazz track and very radio friendly.  I could see this as the next single.  “My Caddy,” titled so from Marcus’ love of the game, is a fun piano piece with a great beat that keeps the heads bopping!  “Urban Trust” contains one of the truest forms of Marcus’ sound.  It’s a gentle piano piece, surrounded by some great guitar work of Stanley Cooper, but has that edge to it that Marcus is known for.  “You and I” is a song that Marcus takes great pride in.  His message is that no one is ever alone; that you always have someone to mentor you and build you up.  It’s an inspirational piece.

“The Journey” is just that…a musical journey between piano and sax.  It’s a blend of funky grooves, old time jazz, and a smoky piano bar with an underground beat.  Lastly, “Make It Happen” is a powerful song with strong bass lines provided by David Dyson, and heavy guitar.  It’s a strong ending to a CD full of groove.

Marcus Johnson has shown his fans over and over that nothing can keep a musician from just doing what he loves to do.  This CD is no exception.

Following his recent set for the Space Ibiza Opening Fiesta, US house legend, Roger Sanchez, has announced his Ibiza residency for 2013. He’ll play the hallowed Space terrace on Mondays for Café Ole, beginning on 1 July and running until 16 September.

Reflecting Roger’s return to his house roots (exemplified by his recent ‘Troubleman’ single), he’ll curate 11 weekly parties at the Space Terrace featuring line-ups that combine house legends including Frankie Knuckles, DJ Spen, Cj Mackintosh, Chus + Ceballos and more, alongside the talent he’s fostered via his Stealth Records imprint, including Prok & Fitch, Rene Amesz, Mike Vale and beyond. The Terrace line-up is complemented with Café Olé’s 2013 residents, Rafha Madrid and Danny Leblack.

Roger will play an all night long set on 29 July, and 5 August will feature a special back to back set with New York’s DJ Boris. 

Renowned for bringing a taste of the New York underground to the White Island, 2013 represents Roger’s 13th consecutive year with an Ibiza residency, and his 3rd season on the Space Terrace. 

Inside the venue’s Discoteca, Café Olé will feature performances from Dita Von Teese, Bob Sinclar, Fedde Le Grand, Mat Zo, Porter Robinson, Danny Avila, Amanda Lepore and many more.

Since 1999, Café Olé has established itself as Ibiza’s most outrageous and hedonistic party. The new theme for 2013 is Café Olé Freak, featuring an array of grotesque and surreal characters that invite all who attend to immerse themselves within a utopian dream world.

From a very young age music has been a huge part of Marcus's life, growing up with the sounds of Motown, Soul, Funk and Disco, at this early stage the love for music just began and continued as he learnt to play the piano and keyboards. Marcus, developed musically and started to discover Electronic Music from the likes of Africa Bombata, Man Parrish and the Jazz Funkster, Herbie Hancock which took him on a more experimental musical journey. Moving on now a couple of years to the Summer of Love of 1988 Chicago House and Acid House became a massive influence and Marcus began to produce his early tracks with the use of a Akai 750 sampler and Atari ST.....

In 1994 he brought his first pair of turntables 1210’s and started his collection of House Music, mainly imports from the United States, Influences being Body & Soul, MAW and Kerri Chandler to name a few.
