Well acquainted with underground music dens and eclectic grooves, Steve Sonius has been a mainstay of the Sydney scene as a DJ and promoter going on 35 years. A core member of the Bag Dog collective alongside Annabelle Gaspar and Bill Cotsis, Steve is just as comfortable pushing downtempo grooves as he his holding down a headline set at Mad Racket.

For his excellent Tempo Comodo set back in August, Steve weaved his way through a wide array of slow-mo cuts before settling into a nu-disco vibe. A prime snapshot of some of the sounds you can discover at 77’s weekly Thursday night series, in this mix you’ll hear from Ron Basejam, Tycho, Nicola Cruz and many more.

The mix was made on a thurdsay afternoon in no time and is pretty honest. I took some LPs we actually listen to a lot (Joy Orbison, Erykah Badu, FKA Twigs, Jack J, Isa Gordon, Andras) and added a few current 12 inches. A mix of Indie Pop, R&B, smooth analogue House, leftfield Electronica and discoish stuff is what you get.

The name Mareia stands for bouncy and eclectic sound as well as dirty bits and pieces. Her style on the one hand lets you dance automatically and on the other hand sometimes raises an honest smile into the crowd's faces. Being just a DJ is not enough for the likeable 27 years old Russian/Austrian mélange, so she is into producing as well. There’s one obvious fact, if you get in touch with Mareias sound as a recipient and dancer: You will always get thrilled!

Not too long ago, I stepped into the world of playing live-sets, a new and inspiring chapter in my creative path. Every set has been a learning experience. Preparing for these shows means creating a lot of new music, and I’ve decided it’s time to share more of it through my new ‘Luna Ludmila Live’ Bandcamp series. Each track is carefully road-tested in my shows before being released.

The second track in the series, 'Chord Tool', is a energetic but stripped-down piece built around delayed chords and a forward-moving bassline. I first played it in Barcelona last summer and it hasn't left my live-set ever since.

Her career has been shaped by rich experiences in music project management and radio production, particularly at Radio Misk, where she coordinated shows focused on electronic music and alternative culture.
