We are grateful to the whales who have been singing on this planet long before humans and whose songs touch our hearts so deeply. May we protect their habitats and continue to learn from their culture and language.

We relied on royalty-free recorded whale vocalizations on Videvo as foundation and inspiration for our own vocalizations. Exploratory recordings made in the cistern at De Watertoren in Delft, NL, were also used in the background. 
All Earth Chants tracks were recorded, mixed, and mastered by Sharon Stewart at SRS Recording Studio, Arnhem, NL, 2022.
Inspired by wales-the amazing creatures-the guardians of our oceans.  Wales have incredible ways of sound-producing and communication, and scientists are still trying to decipher the meaning. We are concerned for their extinction, and we are inspired by their healing sounds and frequencies. We created this recording intending to move the listener further into sleep, relaxation, and rest. Inviting the listener to tap now into Theta and Delta brain waves. Into the world deep within the oceans and dreams.

Morana: Entering the change
In our human nature, a transformation from one phase to another has the potential to bring forth powerful growth. During that process of transforming we are not usually aware that we are about to embark on a journey toward something new. We often feel the fear of losing the known parameters of our known identity. Everything we used to perceive as I, mine or ours begins to dissolve. Intense periods of doubt, fear or anxiety can take over our consciousness, while not yet visible changes in our internal and external environment are taking place.

Morana is a symbol of such a change. Goddess of death and transformation in the Old Slavic mythology, she stands for an ending – of a season, a period in one’s life, or life itself – and as such she brings us into the initiation of something new, something not yet visible. She faces us with the choice. Do we embark upon the journey weighted with the fear of losing everything, or do we walk forth celebrating and rejoicing the steps we are making? Growing awareness from “I am only this body” to “I am consciousness being aware of the body,” Morana brings forth transformations into the deeper mysteries of life. She challenges us to walk without knowing where and what awaits us on the other end of the road. To simply trust and take one step at a time. To surrender into the ever-present now. She calls us to embody, taste, and fully sense every moment of our life, every emotion as if it were our last, and with that, she challenges us to develop an appreciation for the most mundane encounters and daily routines.

In Ballades of the East through her poetry and melodies, through her writings and art, Martris is searching for identity and belonging. A deeper belonging that explores its culture of origin while at the same time questioning it in order to transcend its boundaries in the search of universal truth and understanding.

“A mystical musical journey through myths and tales”

Ballades of the East is a multifaceted project that in its starting idea wishes to capture the essence of the culture and the music from the Balkan region. In exploring the “traditional” and moving further away from it, Martris and Rudjer are creating a unique twist of their personal interpretations and styles.

Kraj reke ( Jedno telo) By the River ( One body)

Hāfez(1325 –1389)  Persian Mystical Poet wrote:" I have come into this world to see this: the sword drop from men’s hands even at the height of their arc of rage because we have finally realized there is just one flesh we can wound."

In this song, Martris sings about embracing, forgiving another that is  
beeing referred to as  "the enemy" . A woman near the river is shedding her tears; Giving a confession to the river; Her grief, her sadness and a prayer for forgiveness in a realization that the other, she calls her enemy is just a reflection of her self; A song as  an intimate realization that she an another are the same and connected, as one body.

"Nature: for me, it’s like magic and a mystery. Where the healing begins and it is completed. Like coming home. Where I feel truly alive - deeply connected to my self and to the Earth. In this first recording  Earth Chants I am particularly happy with the mesmerizing sounds of crickets in the background. They inspired us in creating a soft, and whispering like vocals in the ASMR fashion. It also inspired us in organizing vocals in a way that is free and spontaneous, yet organized, and cohesive: following the way cricket sounds are organized. I created this music peace as a meditative vocal healing improvisation that has two parts in it. The first part is invigorating, shamanistic like vocal improvisation. Here I was inspired by the ethnic melodies of East Europe. The second part is more soothing and calming- dreamlike. The recording is called It’s called “Tiho Spavaj” freely translated to “ Sleep Softly”.  It represents an energetic transition from the day to the night. From the invigorating sun energy to the reflective and calming energy of the moon."

A versatile creator Marina Trisic Martris is a singer/songwriter, visual, and performing artist who in her work integrates a deep pursuit of transformational living. Her CDs include Ballades of the East and Earth Chants. Originally from Serbia, she resides in Nederlands, specializing in singing inspired by ethnic music from the Balkan region, as well as improvisational and intuitive singing. As a singer, with over 20 years of experience in yoga teaching, body-work, Somatic Movement Therapy, and drum circle facilitation she has developed a unique blend - Embodied Voice & Yoga that she offers through workshops, private sessions, and concerts to help people connect deeper to their authentic presence through the use of voice as a medium for healing and transformation. Besides performing regularly, she offers Yoga Nidra concerts/sessions for deep relaxation, Therapeutic Rhythms events, as well as personalized mini-retreats, private and semi-private SomaYoga sessions, in her private practice in Arnhem.
