Brisbane based composer, Rachel Merton began studying composition from 12 years of age. Her studies began at the Young Conservatorium of Music for 5 years with Stephen Leek, right through to her Bachelor of Music in Composition with Dr Stephen Cronin, which she received in 2005 at the Queensland Conservatorium and a Graduate Certificate in Music Studies in 2006. During that time her achievements included placing’s in the ASME Young Composers Competition 1997-2001, the A.G. Francis Composition Prize in 2002, 2004 Fellowship of Australian Composers Award, and first place in the advanced section of composition for the 2006 National Festival of Australian Music, Keys Competition.

Her works have been aired on 4MBS, ABC Classic FM, and Bay FM; they have also been performed in Brisbane, Adelaide, Sydney and Melbourne including ensembles such as The Song Company, The Firm Concert series and the Zephyr Quartet. 



Rachel is a Professional Member of MTAQ and currently tutors piano at Sheldon College and piano, percussion and drums at Cleveland Music Studio in Redland City.Currently completing her Masters of Music Studies, Rachel also founded  Ekstasis Ensemble in 2012, a contemporary classical ensemble performing her original works.

Heli is a singer/songwriter who is based in Brisbane, Australia. Her musical style fits in the Indie Dream Rock and Shoegaze genres.

Commencing from the humble beginnings of the all girl grunge band ‘Fuzzbabes’, then continuing to the grunge girls ‘Gravelrash’ (who supported American band Courtney Love and ‘Hole’ on their Australian national tour). Heli then played Latin Jazz with the trio ‘Latin Heart’ plus numerous solo acoustic performances. 

The most recent musical creative project for Heli is with indie/alternate band ‘Helical Sun’, plus playing an acoustic duo set with Cal Crilly (of Alien Virus and Acid World fame). Heli has also collaberated with various Brisbane artists with recording projects.

Heli’s music provides a combination of reverb guitar effects, ambient vocals with a rhythmic undercurrent that bears testament to elements of 1960s garage sounds fused with shoegaze influences.

"Someone Else's Destiny" was recorded at Borough Studios: Clayfield, Brisbane, Australia, with Skritch Trembles (and Jocky Wocky).

Mostly rough ideas that I'm very lazy about progressing

I'm 20, and I'm a Natural Sciences student, a novelist, poet and singer/songwriter. I love making my own music, and my work is mostly about the lyrics. I've been writing songs since as long as I can remember, and as a fan of poetry it's poetry to music. I play my own guitar unless stated otherwise, and none of my music on here has been professionally recorded or edited in any way. Toronto based Reggae-Rock band Black Creek Reign have been active on the Toronto music circuit for around 8 years now, getting their start at NXNE 2016. Since then, they have been slowly but surely making a name for themselves locally by crafting songs for high energy performances. They blend conscious lyrics, gritty rock tones, authentic island sounds for an accessible, but unique Caribbean soundscape. Most recently, they have been selected to participate in Canadian Music Week this year.
