Digging - Chapter 2

After many happy years of playing this amazing, raw gospel number out as a personal dj "weapon" I thought it was time to share my edit with you all so I've given it a brand new makeover, road-tested it and I think you're gonna love this! 

I have many fond memories of seeing people dancing and losing it to this way back when, early 2000s at La Via Lactea. Nobody knew what this stuff was back then (gospel disco/funk?!) but nobody cared either, people just came to dance. It's gratifying when you get your own homegrown scene, lots of records from those days seems to be coming into their own now, which is great, but what was cool then was that nobody cared -  about what anyone else was doing elsewhere, just enjoying our own thing in complete freedom. Good times!

En el año 2018, la plataforma/colectivo de DJs Global Funk con sede en el País Vasco cumple 10 años de andadura. En todo este tiempo han venido organizando multiples eventos, como fiestas con DJs invitados locales e internacionales (Alice Russell & TM Juke, Nickodemus, Captain Planet, Tahira, Dusty, Txarly Brown, Jesús Bombín,... por citar algunos) colaboraciones con Festivales, actuaciones y giras por Europa. The newest addition to the Matasuna Records label roster is Greek producer and beatmaker Kill Emil. For the upcoming 7inch vinyl single he delivers two great Afro-Tropical joints.

Kill Emil has been on the road for almost a decade and has a remarkable output of singles & LPs on various labels. Rooted in Hip Hop he produces tracks with different influences from all over the world. Sophisticated beats, positive grooves and warm loops characterize his sound and make him a sought-after producer and live performer. So it's not surprising that he regularly tours all over Europe.

The opening track Matata is a midtempo groover with rhythmic guitar melodies, catchy brass lines and mystical vocal parts. Kill Emil skilfully embeding them into his beat framework by adding various effects and echoes to create a new and hypnotic sound. A delicious Afrolatin joint that gets you moving!
On the flipside another tropical gem delivering some Latin madness. With Humanidad Kill Emil shows his beatmaker skills by chopping the samples, reassembling them and adding some heavy breaks and percussions to boil a hot and stirring mixture. NYC Salsa at its best!

Don't know about anyone else but I'm getting more disillusioned with SoundCloud with every change they make. The new algorithm and its 'recommendations' ignore mixes and any tracks over 10 mins, they've removed the New & Hot charts and replaced them with irrelevant crap like "Events near you", and this new UI has me searching for a way to revert it.
