Some points discussed:

- A comprehensive du’ā asking Allāh for rectification in one’s dīn and dunyā. 

- The necessity of calling upon Allāh with ikhlāṣ and tawḥīd. 

- The obligation of being grateful to Allāh and using His blessings in His obedience. 

- Ibn al-Qayyim (رحمه الله) on three means of attaining happiness. 

- The great importance of time, and examples of Allāh (عز وجل) swearing by different periods of time. 

- Using our time in the obedience of Allāh and not wasting it. 

- The Salaf on the son of Ādam being nothing but a specific number of days that will come to an end. 

- “And worship your Lord until there comes unto you the certainty (i.e. death).” [Sūrah al-Ḥijr 15:99]

- The only thing that remains with a person in his grave. 

- “Verily! In the creation of the heavens and the earth, and in the alternation of night and day, there are indeed signs for men of understanding. Those who remember Allāh standing, sitting, and lying down on their sides, and think deeply about the creation of the heavens and the earth, (saying): ‘Our Lord! You have not created (all) this without purpose, glory to You! (Exalted be You above all that they associate with You as partners). Give us salvation from the torment of the Fire.’” [Sūrah Āli ‘Imrān 3:190-191]

- Shaykh Rabī’ (رحمه الله) on the Qur’ān being full of jarḥ wa ta’dīl. 

- Striving to be from the people of understanding who ponder upon the creation, seek knowledge and adorn their knowledge with action. 

- Exhortation from Ḥasan al-Baṣrī (رحمه الله) to carry out righteous actions while we have the opportunity.

- Aḥādīth emphasising the importance of time and the fact that we will be questioned regarding how we utilised it. 

- Shaykh al-Fawzān (حفظه الله) on the three types of ‘ibādah.

- Different means of taking advantage of our time. 

- 1. Seeking the aid of Allāh

- 2. Making sincere repentance to Allāh

- 3. Surrounding ourselves with people who remind us of Allāh

- 4. Bringing ourselves to account and striving against our nafs

- 5. Understanding the lowliness of the dunyā.

[03/10/2025] Advice and Warning to Those Who Find it Difficult to Practice Their Religion - Sh Abu Idrees Muhammad Khān حفظه الله. Khuṭbah at Masjid Salafi, Small Heath, Birmingham, UK.

Some points discussed during this Khuṭbah:

- A heavy topic that should strengthen our resolve to be better Muslims. 

- Five instances when the people will regret and beg Allāh to be returned to the dunyā:

- 1. At the approach of death

- “And spend [in the way of Allāh] from what We have provided you before death approaches one of you and he says, ‘My Lord, if only You would delay me for a brief term so I would give charity and be among the righteous.’ But never will Allāh delay a soul when its time has come. And Allāh is Acquainted with what you do.” [Sūrah al-Munafiqūn 63:10-11]

- “Until, when death comes to one of them (those who join partners with Allāh), he says, ‘My Lord! Send me back, so that I may do good in that which I have left behind!’ No! It is but a word that he speaks, and behind them is barzakh (a barrier) until the Day when they will be resurrected.” [Sūrah al-Mu’minūn 23:99-100]

- 2. When they see the punishment on the Day of Judgement 

- “And warn (O Muḥammad ﷺ) mankind of the Day when the torment will come unto them; then the wrong-doers will say, ‘Our Lord! Respite us for a little while, we will answer Your Call and follow the Messengers!’ (It will be said), ‘Had you not sworn aforetime that you would not leave (the world for the Hereafter).’” [Sūrah Ibrāhīm 14:44]

- 3. When they are brought to the Fire 

- “If you could but see when they will be held over the (Hell) Fire! They will say, ‘Would that we were but sent back (to the world)! Then we would not deny the āyāt (proofs, evidences, verses, lessons, revelations, etc.) of our Lord, and we would be of the believers!’” [Sūrah al-An’ām 6:27]

- “Then (again) you will surely see it (in front of you) with the eye of (absolute) certainty.” [Sūrah at-Takāthur 102:7]

- 4. When they are brought in front of Rabbul-‘Ālamīn

- “And if you only could see when the Mujrimūn (criminals, disbelievers, polytheists, sinners, etc.) shall hang their heads before their Lord (saying), ‘Our Lord! We have now seen and heard, so send us back (to the world), we will do righteous good deeds. Verily! We now believe with certainty.’” [Sūrah as-Sajdah 32:12]

- “If you could but see when they will be held (brought and made to stand) in front of their Lord! He will say, ‘Is not this (Resurrection and the taking of the accounts) the truth?’ They will say, ‘Yes, by our Lord!’ He will then say, ‘So taste you the torment because you used to disbelieve.’” [Sūrah al-An’ām 6:30]

- 5. In the depths of the Hellfire

- “Therein they will cry, ‘Our Lord! Bring us out, we shall do righteous good deeds, not (the evil deeds) that we used to do.’ (Allāh will reply), ‘Did We not give you lives long enough, so that whosoever would receive admonition, could receive it? And the warner came to you. So taste you (the evil of your deeds). For the Ẓalimūn (polytheists and wrongdoers, etc.) there is no helper." [Sūrah Fāṭir 35:37]

- The meaning of يَصْطَرِخُون.

- Qatādah (رحمه الله) on the sole reason we will wish to return to the dunyā. 

- “Those will have lost who deny the meeting with Allāh, until when the Hour [of resurrection] comes upon them unexpectedly, they will say, ‘O, [how great is] our regret over what we neglected concerning it,’ while they bear their burdens on their backs. Unquestionably, evil is that which they bear. And the worldly life is not but amusement and diversion; but the home of the Hereafter is best for those who fear Allāh, so will you not reason? [Sūrah al-An’ām 6:31-32]

- The supplication of the righteous as it relates to the fulfilment of Allāh’s promise. 

- Our need to remind ourselves of the promise of Allāh (سبحانه وتعالى). 

- Imām as-Sa’dī (رحمه الله) on how belief in the promise of Allāh aids a person upon being patient. 

- Allāh’s promise to the believers in the dunyā, and the condition for this promise to be fulfilled. 

- Allāh’s promise to the believers in the hereafter. 

- The statement of the believers when they are admitted into Paradise. 

- The discussion that will take place between the inhabitants of Paradise and the inhabitants of the Hellfire as it relates to the promise of Allāh. 

- The humility of the Prophet ﷺ and how he treated the dunyā.

- Ibn al-Qayyim (رحمه الله) on the description of those who have been deceived by the worldly life. 

- A sign of istidrāj. 

- “And Shayṭān will say when the matter has been decided, ‘Verily, Allāh promised you a promise of truth. And I too promised you, but I betrayed you. I had no authority over you except that I called you, so you responded to me. So blame me not, but blame yourselves. I cannot help you, nor can you help me. I deny your former act in associating me (Shayṭān) as a partner with Allāh (by obeying me in the life of the world). Verily, there is a painful torment for the Ẓalimūn (polytheists and wrong-doers, etc.)." [Sūrah Ibrāhīm 14:22]

- How Shayṭān deceives a person concerning Allāh. 

- Caution against having evil thoughts about Allāh (عز وجل). 

- Explanation of terrifying verses from Sūrah al-Ḥadīd that should make us fear for ourselves.

- Ibn al-Qayyim (رحمه الله) on how the people of īmān are deceived into delaying tawbah. 

- The greatest of those who are deluded concerning their Lord. 

- The one who is deceived from every angle.  

- What is upon us in times of weakness and hardship?


The Promise of Allāh is True. So Let Not This Wordly Life Deceive You By Abu Inaayah Seif

• Paradise is surrounded by that which entails difficulty and struggle.

• What are the desires that surround the Hellfire?

• Ibn al-Qayyim: It is essential to oppose one’s lowly desires, and to avoid the people of desires and disobedience.

• Only a small minority of people are not heedless of the remembrance of Allāh.

• The causes and roots of evil.

• How does one attain Paradise?

• What leads a person to fall into the Hellfire?

• There are only two eternal abodes — Paradise and the Hellfire. Which one do you desire, and for which are you striving?

• When Jibreel saw Paradise and the Hellfire.

• A profound parable explaining why people fall into sin.

• Eemān (faith) wears away — beg Allāh to renew your Eemān.

• How does one hold themselves to account?

• The tears of 'Alī (may Allāh be pleased with him).

• The two causes of deviation.

• The key to Paradise.

• For whom is the good and blessed end?

• The harmful and corrupting influence of music.

• Who are those truly endowed with intelligence?

• Do not think of your sins as insignificant.

• Shaytān desires nothing more than that you cease repenting.



Paradise is surrounded by hardships and Hellfire is surrounded by temptations
