Allāh’s ennobling of Banī Ādam over the rest of creation.
The reason sajdah to Ādam was permitted. 
That which determines our levels with Allāh.
The command of the Messenger ﷺ to place the people in their correct/proper stations.
Ennobling the elder, showing mercy to the young and giving the ‘ālim his right.
The need to adorn ourselves with humility. 
Releasing traits of jāhiliyyah from our hearts.
Imām al-Qurṭubī (رحمه الله) on the āyah, “O you who believe! Let not a group scoff at another group, it may be that the latter are better than the former, nor let (some) women scoff at other women, it may be that the latter are better than the former, nor defame one another, nor insult one another by nicknames. How bad is it, to insult one's brother after having Faith [i.e. to call your Muslim brother (a faithful believer) as: "O sinner", or "O wicked", etc.]. And whosoever does not repent, then such are indeed Ẓalimūn (wrong-doers, etc.).” [Sūrah al-Ḥujurāt 49:11]

[14/02/2022] Words of Advice to the One Seeking Knowledge - By Abu Hakeem Bilāl Davis حفظه الله. Short words of advice, answering questions regarding seeking knowledge after the weekly Tafsir Ibn Kathir class.

Some points discussed during this advice:

⁃ That which the da’wah of the Prophet ﷺ was based upon and the importance of being familiar with the texts of the Book and the Sunnah.
⁃ The effectiveness of quoting the verses of the Book of Allāh upon the hearts.
⁃ Contemplating upon our ability to convey the legacy left by the Messenger ﷺ if the responsibility was solely on our shoulders.
⁃ The importance of equipping ourselves to be carriers of this legacy.

The level of importance that should be given to memorising.

⁃ Giving priority to memorising the small texts in ‘Aqīdah after the Book of Allāh and what one is able to memorise from the Sunnah of the Messenger ﷺ.
⁃ Being familiar with and beginning one’s da’wah with the fundamental texts such as Uṣūl ath-Thalāthah, Qawā’id al-Arba’a and ‘Aqīdatul-Wāsiṭiyyah.

Things that prevent a student from learning.

⁃ From the best of the books written on this topic: ‘Awā’iquṭ-Ṭalab of Shaykh ‘Abdus-Salām b. Barjis (رحمه الله).
⁃ From the things that may be present prior to him embarking upon studying:
⁃ 1. Characteristics such as kibr.
⁃ 2. Being deceived by Shaytān that one is too old and not able to memorise/study.
⁃ 3. Not having a sincere intention.
⁃ 4. Not being familiar with the methodology of studying.
⁃ 5. Pursuing the dunyā.

Jealousy among students of knowledge who are at a similar stage/level.

⁃ Constantly checking oneself and one’s ikhlāṣ.
⁃ If a person is badly affected by the progression of his companion, he must ask himself:
⁃ How is he in relation to his own sincerity in his seeking of knowledge?
⁃ How is he in relation to the statement of the Prophet ﷺ, “Love for your brother what you love for yourself”?
⁃ He should use that as a form of encouragement and put in more effort.
⁃ He should pay attention to the fact that the race is not for the swift but those who can endure.

Part 1 "Explanation of the Three Fundamental Principles of Islam"

Ustadh Abdul Hakeem (hafidahullah)discusses the importance of guarding and safeguarding one's time.

Shaykh ibn Baz (rahimahullah) said, "Time is more valuable than gold itself."

This shows us the importance of time because it is a commodity which will aid us in our hereafter.

In safeguarding and utlising our time there are affairs which we must recognise and utilise in order to aid us in using our time well.

•	Worship of Allah - The Purpose of our Creation

Ibn Kathir (Rahimahullah):
Allah created his servants to worship Him alone without any partners, so whoever obeys Allah with this command then Allah will grant them the best of rewards and whoever disobeys Him Allah will punish him with the most severe of punishments.

Allah informs us that he is not in need of the servants, he created his servants, rather they are in need of him (subhanahu)in all of their affairs for indeed Allah is the one who created them and he is the one that gives them sustenance. End of speech

•	Good companionship

Spend your time with companionship that will aid you upon good.

The Messenger (sallallaahu alaihi wa salam)said,

"The person is upon the religion of his companion, so look to whom you take as your companion."

Have companionship which aids you in worshipping Allah, participating in that which brings you benefit, enjoins the good and forbids the evil, the time you spend with him is one of benefit, seeking beneficial knowledge and acting upon it, reminding one another of Allah, a companion who wants Jannah for you just as he wants for himself.

Anas ibn malik (radiaAllahu anhu) The Prophet (sallallaahu alaihi wa salam) said, "One of you does not truly believe until he loves for his brother that which he loves for himself."

•	Righteous Actions and Exertion upon them

Do not fill ones time with the actions which are haram and actions which Allah subhanahu disapproves of, it is important to recognise that the worldly life is the place of cultivation for the aakhirah, this is where the seeds are laid down, which we seek to harvest and benefit from in the hereafter. Therefore, if a person does not exert themselves upon good, what will he have to harvest in the aakhirah?

Umar ibn abdul Azeez said, "indeed the night and the day they work for you, they are in your service so work for them. Ie take advantage of them, take advanatgae of the actions of the night and the actions of the day."

Abu Hurayrah (radiAllahu anhu) said he and other from the companions would split their night into three, 1/3 for sleep, 1/3 for revision of hadeeth and 1/3 for the worship of Allah (night prayer, supplication etc).

Your life in this world is not eternal, so take benefit of it while you can.
