Super RobCo Disco Battle started as a Sunday afternoon project in mid-June 2013. The idea was to create a classic arcade battle melody spiced up with a techy Disco groove. It took around half a day to compose the basic melodies and two more studio sessions with Artfx! (https://soundcloud.com/artfx) to pimp it up with a jumpy Sega bassline, self-made arcade sound effects, additional Disco percussions & an awesome mastering.

The name of the track is a reference to the computer/console game Fallout & and is especially dedicated to the legendary “RobCo Industries” corporation, one of the biggest & most influential computer and robotics corporations in the (future) United States of America. Just imagine Mr. Handy & Yes Man fighting a deadly “John Travolta style” Disco battle in front of a Nuka Cola vending machine. Makes perfect sense, huh? :)

An early beta version of the track has been released in issue #14 of the weekly Chiptune Podcast “This Week in Chiptune” by DJ Cutman (https://soundcloud.com/djcutman).

Super RobCo Disco Battle was created using Renoise (http://www.renoise.com/) & Cubase (http://www.steinberg.net). The lead and some of the bass samples are from the NES & the Sega Mega Drive. The Chiptune arps have  entirely  been designed in Renoise.

The song has 8 channels and has been composed on DigiBooster 1.7.

In the series of doing famous game soundtracks and songs on various older sought after synths and modules, I give you the original Duke Nukem 3D Theme, done entirely on a Roland Super JX (except the drums of course). I had a little slow start on this one, and it was mainly due to trouble programming sounds on the MKS-70 and that Lee Jackson's original contains a bit of muddy phrasings causing a lot of rumble in the low frequencies. I took the liberty of cleaning those up and change them slightly and adding some extra parts to give the song some length. However, I see now that I've done the song, that there IS a full version out of the original "Grabbag" song: http://leejacksonaudio.lbjackson.com/html/download.html

Ah, well... what's done is done. Hope you enjoy this version too and have a good time whacking those aliens that take or women! Time to kick some serious ass, and remember to bring enough gum!

An original Amiga demoscene oldskooler and current video games composer, the name TDK was originally active in the early 90’s writing catchy and melodic chiptunes for the likes of Anthrox, Crystal and Melon Dezign. Having 'retired' from the scene in 1993 I went on to write the music for such games as Wing Commander (Amiga), Duke Nukem Total Meltdown, Populous: The Beginning and Dungeon Keeper 2.

The advent of the CD-Rom format, and therefore music licensing, threatened my role as a composer so I moved into sound design within my favourite video game genre, driving games.

As a self confessed petrol head, working for Codemasters from 2008, I headed up the audio team on the DiRT, Formula 1 and GRID franchises until 2015 I went 'full circle' back to composition and wrote the OST for F1 2015. Since then, I've penned the soundtracks for Overlord: Fellowship of Evil, the Indie game D/Generation HD - which I originally worked on in 1993, and F1 2016. After finishing F1 2017, I started my own audio production company, SONiC FUEL.

Never leaving the chip sound behind, 'TDK' was brought out of retirement at the end of 2012 with the release of my first album, Reawakening, and I've since fused my love of chip with my passion for the electric violin to perform a unique chiptune-violin set at SuperByte 2013, Chipfest, and Nintendoom 3.0. 

I'm now back writing in a number of different styles, but perhaps my main love of 70's analog synths may take charge of what I write.

Either way, TDK is back! Flit Kills Moths is back! (until Esso sue for brand copyright).
