DJ BUDAI BIOGRAPHY

Techno pioneer who established funky techno and founded a dance magazine in Hungary. He is one of the most outstanding figures of the Hungarian dance scene. His works are so diverse that it’s impossible to write about them in just a few sentences. Let’s have a closer look at the milestones of DJ Budai’s career. 

Budai learned how to DJ at the end of the ‘80s, and then he began to build his career deliberately. He became second at the Hungarian DMC in 1990, then he got residencies at Hungarian clubs called Hysteria, E-Play and Dark Side. From the mid-90s, he became a regular at the two Hungarian super clubs (Flört, Palace), and from then on he has been a dominant figure in the Hungarian dance scene. With his friends, Budai founded the first dance magazine (FreeE) in Hungary in 1995 and he continued his mission there until 2005. 

However, DJ Budai became known by a lot of people when ‘Techno-House Classics of '93-96 - Mixed by Budai’ came out. This was a real trendsetting compilation which launched an avalanche on the Hungarian market. The enormous success brought him two more compilations at Universal Records, ‘Budai - The DJ Mix 2.’ (1999), ‘Technologic vol. 1 - Mixed By Budai’ (2001). A year later, Underground Records published ‘2002’ on which Budai also experimented with deep house beside his unique techno sound. In 2004, ‘Live - Funky-Techno Roadmovie’ came out which was an outstanding DVD where you could follow the DJ and his crew travelling from one show to the other. This was the first DJ road movie in Hungary. In 2005, he created a compilation for Egotraxx Records (‘Budai & Vic Present: This Is Ego’). His latest official compilation was ‘I Love Deep 001’ where Budai represented the deeper sound of house music. 

Beside the gigs and official compilations, Budai has been a successful producer right from the beginning of his career. His first success was ‘Forthright’ and it also appeared on TV in 1999. Together with his colleague and friend DJ Newl they produced ‘Blue Nights Are Beautiful’, which became a hit in the clubs in 2001. Thanks to another collaboration (Budai & Vic) some more outstanding tracks followed (‘Macoosa’, ‘That's What We Call Phunky’, ‘I Love Deep’, ‘Once Again’, ‘Luv U’, ‘U Just Don't Know’, ‘Viami Mice’). As a result of this collaboration, their own label, Egotraxx Records was born where apart from their techno tracks, Markantonio, Marko Nastic, Alexander Koning, DJ Preach and Allan Banford also published their music. Budai’s deeper sound is represented by I Love Deep Records. The tracks of the label appeared at Nic Fanciulli’s, The Timewriter’s  and Terry Lee Brown Junior’s compilations. 

Budai’s schedule is full, he’s a popular DJ at home and internationally as well. He’s been a regular at the biggest Hungarian dance and techno festivals (Sziget, Balaton Sound, Bonus, Hyperspace, B My Lake). He’s the resident of the new club called  Kasino where he represents his club nights including the 10-year-old I Love Deep parties. 
Thanks to Budai’s gift and popularity, he has played at some legendary clubs like Fabric and Ministry of Sound. He’s a regular at the English capital where he also played at Grind and Kolis. He played alongside Nick Warren in Zurich and has been to Dublin several times. In Hungary, he stars the ‘Budai All Night Long’ birthday party for the 8th time in March where Hungary’s most popular techno DJ entertains his crowd all night long.

The success of Chriss Ronson could be explained by the time he spent in music history but as we can see through numerous examples the lack of being able to renew could only hold a very few within the music scene. This holds exceptionally true for the electronic scene which is all about progress and renewal since its sole existence – or about change if you like. Chriss has all these capabilities and had all along, which is brilliantly proven by his album SWITCH, as we can speak about a forward-looking album in all aspects and which stands its’ ground on international standards as much as any publication of any other famous prodcer’s latest release. 
SWITCH in this sense is much more plastic in its sound, accommodates to the contemporary electornic music still not a genre release and on which you can truly feel the musicality that drove Criss during the past decades, who on the other hand could manage to create himself in the  intelligent way without any manner and mannerism using his own sound to it.
In compliance with this the flow of the whole album is built on one single perfect structure owing greately to the order of tracks and their separate sets. If we want to see the personality of their creator by all means in it then we could say that Chriss Ronson truly put his personal changes into this album, effects that influenced him and of which the titles of each song tells us a bit along with the already mentioned structure. Not to mention that he could manage to make this with such mucical support as Balázs Fehér, MC Fedora, Sab Martenius or Myra Monoka who all participated in the album for a song and who are all epic figures of the Hungarian light music. 
SWITCH in this sense is one Chriss Ronson’s most characteristic and most ’perceptable’ album which addresses the audience like a swtich that definitively connects the producer, the DJ with the audience and with that media that switches from reality to a different spiritual level the moment the DJ stands behind the mixer and the lights go off.

In the early 90’s Peter falls in love with electronic music as escapism from his troubled and abusive childhood. Underground electronic music was new, exciting and Peter’s rebellious soul was soon captivated. His love for music has been constant ever since.

Headphones and listening excessively to loud music not only served its purpose of exclusion from the world, but this was the beginning of his musical journey. After listening to single tracks, he soon moved on to DJ sets, as the long journeys and the artistic freedom that characterized these were something he could strongly relate to.

This was when he started his vast and multi-genre vinyl collection and soon after moved on to playing and mixing these. He found extreme joy in music and started to build his own world which orbited around it. Mixing different genres was euphoric, he became a fanatic collector and a passionate disc jockey.

His sets are reflections of his current state of mind and he often improvises when in the booth to spice it up. He is always lost in the moment and instantly connects with the crowd. The music is a manifestation of Peter’s emotions.

He favors extended sets, relishing the chance to truly exhibit his talent and deliver captivating mixes across a spectrum of house music genres. He's a versatile house DJ, adept at navigating various styles within the genre. His preference leans towards emotionally charged yet dynamic house music, seamlessly blending deep house, progressive house, and organic house. Occasionally, he infuses melodic elements to sustain the dancefloor's energy.

He has dedicated over 20 years of his life to electronic music and as a result, now manages three labels plus the Truesounds Music Promotion and Management. Hard work finally paid off.

He is more of a DJ but recently started to focus on production as well. His own releases are created in collaboration with co-producers and sounds engineers.

Connecting with people and creating long-lasting memories is what really makes him tick. The DJ booth is his true home.

After taking a deep dive in the world of electronic music Erich turned his interest to the dj profession in 2006. After a few, smaller radio appereances he debuted on the legendary Proton Radio (USA) in October 2009. He reached numerous top list positions on the channel, which resulted a 5-year exclusive contract with Proton in the beginning of 2010: he had the chance to release a mix album each year called Relations. Along with the contract Erich started a monthly show here, under the same name as his mix series. Later he earned residency on Digitally Imported (USA), Pure Ibiza Radio (ESP), Golden Wings Music Radio (ARG), DNA FM (ARG), NUBE FM (ARG), Loops Radio (TUR) and houseradio.pl (POL), too. He's been spinning tracks regularly on other stations as well like Frisky Radio (USA), JustMusic FM (HUN), Radio1 (HUN), Rise FM (HUN) and Petőfi Radio (HUN). He is the co-founder and manager of Stellar Fountain Records (Stellar Fountain, Stellar Black, Stellar Limited), which he estabilished and run together with MiraculuM (Udvardy Gyorgy) and Greyloop (Nemeth Gergő) since the summer of 2011. He began producing in 2010. After acquiring enough knowledge he began to write tracks, and fulfill remix requests. He has been supported and played by well-known names, like Hernan Cattaneo, Nick Warren, Cid Inc, Soundexile, Solid Stone, Fernando Ferreyra and more. Besides some great shows around Budapest, Amsterdam, Berlin, Madrid, Belgrade, Lisbon, Malta, United Kingdom, Switzerland and Slovakia, Erich has also debuted on the biggest festivals of Europe like Exit Festival in Serbia, Sziget Festival and Ozora Festival in Hungary, and Bloque Festival in Greece. He got the opportunity to play live with his biggest influences Hernan Cattaneo, Nick Warren and John Digweed, and also perform on Lost & Found, The Soundgarden, Global Underground, Sudbeat and Anjunadeep events....
