Sometimes we get plugged into a religious tradition by parents, who were plugged into the same beliefs by their parents, and so on. Not a spiritual journey as much as just getting dumped into it. At an innocent age, before we can weigh them, we're handed these beliefs like they are facts and truth, and then it's very hard to crawl out from under the programming. Even if the fog clears and we decide what we were told were myths, it's always there, in our history and part of the way we see the universe.

This lyric is one that has as much meaning to me as any other song I've written. It tells of my journey, which I thought was very unique, but the few times I've played this tune out, I find many others can relate; even if their experience isn't exactly the same, they get it. And for those few I've played it for that were in the same religion, and know the trail of false predictions of end-of-times, the lyrics get a big reaction.

I have a few original tunes that are fun, and a few that tackle heavier more serious things in life. Take a listen and if any of the lyrics speak to you please let me know, I appreciate any feedback. 

I used to always have a song or two in the works, but as I get older the push to write wanes. I still write something new now-and-then but it's very rare to feel the muse snuggling up. But lately, I have been compelled to get all my originals recorded -- sort of for posterity. So here, on my soundcloud page, I'll post each of my tunes as I get them down on tape.

My plan is to get them on laid down, just as super simple one-mic one-take recordings. Then later, if I get a cleaner performance, or get a friend to sit in for a harmony or 2nd guitar or something that adds something interesting, I might update a track if the earlier performance is weak. I love sparse simple demos with a sound like the songwriter would sound like if you caught them playing the tune at home in their own living room.
