Mammals

I have not posted new tunes for a while as I have been working on a record, attending graduate school while teaching college courses, and simultaneously building my own studio: new interface, mac book, pre-amp, push, amp, guitar etc...  while heavily researching recording methodologies (I been a bit busy). I have also been familiarizing myself with all of the recording ins and outs which is a constant work in progress. This cover of Kansas City is the first attempt at recording with all my new gadgets. I recorded it live in one take so sorry for any obvious errors etc... While saving for all of this new equipment I have been vigorously working on my first solo album. I hope to start posting versions of my originals (besides Mammals which is original and posted) on Soundcloud as well. While I know this is not my best work, and usually I detest playing covers, I figured this song would be a good first test run that would allow me to explore Ableton and expand my musical perspectives. The background fuzz/hum is the sound of the speakers running I believe, and in the future to negate this I figure I just need to move the mic further away from the speakers. I am already learning the importance of mic placement, and the ever important little details in writing, playing, and recording your own tunes.  I hope you enjoy this attempt at Kansas City, yet most importantly I hope you keep a look out for some upcoming original tracks that will be on my first album as I will be posting versions periodically over the upcoming weeks. I am super stoked to once again have the ability to record independently and consistently, and I hope anyone who stumbles across my page enjoys!
