An inspirational week and beautiful location to walk, listen, learn and experiment.

Oscillithic is a collaboration between sound artist Anne Marie Deacy and multi media artist Rachel Doolin.

This was embedded in the sculpture Oscillithic i - Sight, Stone, Sound - vibrating through their research materials and exploring the ancient soundings and the use of white quartz stones known as ‘Clocha Geala’ at neolithic burial sites.

This piece is a sketch/ audio document of sounding place and is composed of a select unprocessed field recording showcasing the natural amphitheatre present in this reverberating burial site. Chosen from a series of fieldrecordings made by Anne Marie onsite. Another layer of meaning is added by the tones overlapping nature sounds of healing crystal bowls, a nod to how this material is still considered a conduit to healing.
Doolin and Deacy also performed with the stones onsite, recording through air and through the stones with contact microphones, this is an homage to those who would have carried them thousands of years ago, to lay in that land, a mindful meditation in connecting with the past through quartz.
A nod to composers Christian Wolff and Pauline Oliveros, this sound work is an attempt to mine meaning from the hidden vernacular of the site.

Oscillithic i - Sketches of Lands at Dowth

'Sleep' the terra non-firma between dreaming and waking is an experimental re-mix for Cities and Memories using MEXICO XALAPA Dawn_chorus-city of the flowers recorded by Oscar Marín.
I was invited along with other soundartists to choose a piece of audio on Cities and Memories catalogue to download and re-mix to be re-loaded on their sonic global geo-map.
This is my piece which uses the original in a re-mix layered with my own recordings and experiments. I hope creates a tranquil space for relaxation and sleep.
Research indicates that pulsing and repeating sounds out of sequence can help the brain and body relax before sleep, I have also included sounds to occupy the mind to distract from any temporal thoughts of daily life and things that always need to be done.
The ‘hiss’ is intentional to help create a constant thread of texture and tone.
I hope listeners enjoy this and find it soothing and relaxing, and that Oscar likes what I have done with his recording. Thankyou for inviting me to be part of this wonderful project.

Searching For The Lost Language Of Cumbric

Silence to Silence, in tribute to R. Murray Schafer, music by Carol Ann Weaver, with text by Rae Crossman, was world-premiered by Inshallah Choir, Debbie Lou Ludolph, conductor, Nov. 26,2024 in Waterloo, Ontario, Canada.  The piece was composed in Algonquin in 2021, shortly after the death of R. Murray Schafer, beloved Canadian composer/soundscape originator/author/environmentalist, who died earlier in 2021.  The work evokes a day in the (Algonquin) wilderness, with loons, water, and rarely heard wolves.  All natural recordings are by CAWeaver from Algonquin. On June 21, 2025, over 10,000 protesters gathered in Berlin’s city center near the German parliament to demonstrate solidarity with Palestinians in Gaza and Iran, demanding an end to Germany’s support for Israel. Described as one of Germany’s largest protests.
