It’s been quite a while since I last uploaded a track, and I’m really happy to be back on SoundCloud with something new.

No Mercy is dark, gritty, and driven by a deep funk groove — heavy rhythms, raw energy, no compromises.

Turn it up and let it ride.

We’re in the year 1994. I was 8 years old and with Secret of Mana I had my very first video game experience. Absolutely nothing else in life shaped me morally, ethically, and especially musically as much as that moment.

Just thinking about it makes water gather in my eyes as if the air is full of onions. That’s when you know something sits deep inside you.

This is my love letter to the game.

These aren’t just 1:1 electronic covers. They’re my attempt to breathe that first heartbeat back into the music, to make it feel like the very first time it reached my ears and my heart.

The suffocating dread of Thanatos’ theme. The fragile beauty and quiet sadness of Spirit of the Night. Play them straight and they turn into museum pieces… pretty, but lifeless. I wanted them alive again. So I rebuilt them from the inside out, kept their soul, amplified their pulse, and wrapped them in an electronic skin that felt like today without losing yesterday.

Whether I caught that feeling or not… that’s for you to decide.

(Just kidding, I already decided for myself that this is pretty fucking awesome, but let me know if it’s also awesome for you!)

01 – Spirit of the Night

Early in the game, you get banished from your hometown. This track plays when you try to enter it again. My very first thought was, “It’s too fucking short.” Which led to me basically just standing there for hours listening to it (and, not understanding game mechanics back then, I thought the guy guarding the entrance had to go to sleep at some point, but night and day cycles weren’t invented yet).

Also, the emotional impact it had… I mean, I was an 8-year-old boy (and of course I imagined the hero was 8 years old too, which lore-wise I don’t think is that far off) who got banned from entering his home after he’d just saved their sorry asses. Who’s going to kill the monsters overrunning the place now? The chubby kid? Good luck. Fucking assholes.

Because it’s too short, I made it 7 minutes long, gave it a ‘new’ part, and added plenty of variation and some feeling of empowerment... it's the beginning of your journey to save the world afterall!
