I always liked this track the best in the game - really set the mood for the game well. It's great to hear a remix of it, even keeping some of those great scratchy FM-synth sounds!

The original track is a firm childhood favourite of mine, so this snazzed up version was a pleasant surprise to stumble on~!

I really love what you've done with the track Matt. The extension of it and the sounds makes it a tune I often come back to.

Derelict - Power On Theme

Here's my entry for BOTB's "Funk it up" compo. I went a little hyper on it, and some elements of the song might not be what you traditionally think of when you think funk but I think it has enough going for it to qualify. Also, to be honest I've kind of done traditional Sega Genesis funk to death and so I thought this spin on it would help my track stand out. It's short but it's a wild ride while it lasts. Enjoy! My first time using the VRC6 chip!

I've been trying to cover this song since I first started making NES music but could never get it right with just the 2a03 channels, since I was too stubborn to learn any other chip.
A few days ago I tried the VRC6, and it's a lot simpler than I thought. I might keep up using this chip, or even continue experimenting with others.

I used the sawtooth channel to complement the underpowered triangle bass, and the two extra pulse channels as an extension of the two 2a03 ones.

Channel management was still a challenge, especially starting around 0:53. I had to stretch so many instruments onto just the two extra pulses, since the original two were used up on the main flute and the light jazz guitar.
