Any artist is welcome to send us a track via freshonthenet.co.uk anytime between Monday lunchtime and Wednesday evening (or when we receive 200 submissions, whichever is sooner) - and all our moderators, including Tom Robinson, will listen to every track. This is our full inbox from the week beginning Mon 23rd October 2023: from Friday afternoon you'll be able to hear our shortlist and pick your favourites on this week's Listening Post which will appear at freshonthenet.co.uk/batch506

If a track you submitted does not appear in this list, it’s probably because another of your tracks appeared in our Fresh Faves or on the BBC Music Introducing Mixtape during the last three months — we ask that artists featured on either wait three months before resubmitting to give others a chance. 

We also don’t accept short previews or SoundCloud Go tracks that can only be heard as 30 second previews, and tracks made private after submission, which cannot be included in playlists. You will be able to resubmit the track in future. Tracks (and remixes of tracks) that have been previously submitted, and tracks from banned artists will also be removed.

“Home” is the first single from London, UK-based singer-songwriter Gareth Haze. “Home” is an acoustic folk/pop ballad that talks about coming home to someone you love even when the chaos of life and the world around us seemingly confuses and consumes us. 

Known by many as the brother and former drummer for South African singer-songwriter Mark Haze, Gareth moved to the UK in 2017 where he decided to take on the challenge of performing solo in unfamiliar territory. This experience has inspired the songs for his forthcoming album “Stranger in a Strange Land”.

Gareth recently spent time back in South Africa after his and Mark’s father passed away. During the visit the two brothers couldn’t resist working on music together, resulting in Mark featuring on “Home” as well as co-producing the track with Gareth. They have also started work on the rest of the album, which they will be co-producing across continents to create something truly special.

'Make Those Move' has also received plays at 1XTRA and Radio 1. It’s a call to arms: the siren piercing the sleepy dawn, signalling I Am Legion's imminent and deadly impact, explained here by MC Metropolis:
 
“When we say 'Make Those Move', we're talking about the audience at the show, we're talking about making necks snap when you're listening in headphones, making the bass cones move, or the sub stack shift a couple inches to the left coz the bass is blowing shit up. It’s a party track; something that we feel you can mosh to. That was the vibe we were trying to create. It has this cool rebellious Punk attitude to it which is totally in key with where we wanted to go with the project as a whole.”

Matt Mereport emerged from the Manchester ship canal to set up home on a small wooded northern hilltop. Armed with a guitar, voice and electronics he creates what he refers to as “music” though many disagree with this tag. Sometimes it’s heavily electronic, sometimes it’s heavily acoustic. Sometimes it’s heavily weighted. It tends to change from day to day. Much like his socks.
