Vermi is a composition structured as a spontaneous birth and subsequent evolution of musical material. The listener is led into this evolutionary story through the characterization of specific musical figures, which change over time, with their precise identity. The figures born from a primordial sound magma, and then become more and more connoted, laboriously conquering space in the listener's perception.
“…all was a chaos, that is, earth, air, water and fire were all mixed together; and out of that bulk a mass was formed, just as cheese is made out of milk, and worms appeared in it, and these were the angels... “ (statement made in 1584 by Domenico Scandella, an italian miller, during an inquisitorial question).

Vermi, for ensemble and electronics (2020)

Matteo Tundo is an Italian composer of acoustic and electroacoustic music. His compositional research focuses on the perception and cognition of sound events, investigating the neural mechanisms underlying the signification of sound. His work centers on the integration of neuroaesthetics into musical composition, employing innovative technologies to enhance the listener’s perceptual engagement and sensory experience.
After his initial guitar studies, he devoted himself entirely to composition and new technologies, studying at the conservatories of Florence, Parma, and Lugano, and at the Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia. He studied composition with Ivan Fedele, Giorgio Colombo Taccani, Javier Torres Maldonado, and Nadir Vassena, and electronic music with Marco Ligabue, Alfonso Belfiore and Michelangelo Lupone. He also attended specialized courses with Salvatore Sciarrino, Yan Maresz, Beat Furrer, Franck Bedrossian, Marco Stroppa, Mark Andre and others. 
In 2024 he was composer in residence for the Divertimento Ensemble. In the same year, together with guitarist Pierpaolo Dinapoli, he founded the h[t] DUO, a guitar and live electronics duo, for which he is active as an electroacoustic performer
His compositions have been performed in Italy, Germany, England, Portugal, France, Spain, Greece, Switzerland, Austria, United States, Iran, Korea, Japan, Hong Kong, and Australia. He has participated as composer in international festivals.
He teaches computer music at the Conservatory of Brescia, Italy. Kostas Zisimopoulos (Greece, b. 1994) is a composer whose work investigates deviation, instability, interruption, and interference—concepts that shape both the structure and experience of his music. He focuses on the physical and perceptual dimensions of sound, developing immersive sonic structures that combine instrumental, vocal, and electronic media. Drawn to densely textured sonic materials and emotionally charged atmospheres, he often works across disciplines to explore form, perception, and the boundaries between sound and technology.  

He has received commissions and performances from ensembles, orchestras, venues and institutions such as Philharmonie de Paris, Berliner Philarmoniker, Belgrade Philharmonic, Radio Filharmonisch Orkest, Concertgebouw Brugge, Carnegie Hall, Fondazione I Teatri di Reggio Emilia, GMEM - Centre national de création musicale Marseille, Residentie Orkest, Gaudeamus, November Music, Grachtenfestival, Alexandrinsky Theatre and ARCo, while also has been collaborating with ensembles like Percussions de Strasbourg, Ensemble Multilatérale, Les Metaboles, Ensemble Fractales, Divertimento Ensemble, PHACE, Trio Estatico, Ensemble Taller Sonoro, Ensemble U:, Cikada, Meitar Ensemble, Ensemble NOMAD, Ensemble, Roadrunner Trio, United Instruments of Lucilin, TACETi, Ensemble Suono Giallo, Kaaos Ensemble, Vertixe Sonora, GAMEnsemble, ARTéfacts ensemble, Ensemble Terrible, Phoenix and KamerOrkest Driebergen.

He has been awarded international composition prizes, honorable mentions, and has been a finalist in competitions such as the International Composition Institute of Thailand (ICIT), the 19th SUN RIVER PRIZE New Music Composition Competition, the II ARTSOM Musical Competition, the Ise-Shima Composition Competition, DYCE (Discovering Young Composers of Europe), the Bruno Maderna Composition Competition, the Da_sh Editions 3rd International Composition Competition, the Composition Competition at the Franz Schubert Konservatorium in Wien, and the INMF (Impulse New Music Festival). From April 2025 he will be an artist in residence in the Cité Internationale des Arts in Paris (FR). 

His music has received premieres and performances in France, Austria, Italy, Switzerland, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Estonia, Norway, Czech Republic, Spain, Greece, Serbia, Cyprus, Azerbaijan, Ukraine, Israel, United Kingdom, China, United States, Thailand, Russia and Canada.

Italian Composer
Born in Naples, Italy, in 1987, he studied piano and composition at the Conservatories of Naples and Salerno under Antonio Traverso and Giancarlo Turaccio. He continued his compositional studies at the State University of Music and Performing Arts Stuttgart (HMDK) with Marco Stroppa, and at the Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia in Rome with Ivan Fedele and Michelangelo Lupone, specializing also in electronic music. He was awarded the Goffredo Petrassi scholarship, granted by the President of the Italian Republic for outstanding academic and artistic achievements.
Throughout his education, he had the opportunity to engage with renowned composers such as Helmut Lachenmann, Salvatore Sciarrino, Tristan Murail, and others. His works have been performed by prestigious ensembles and orchestras including the Deutsche Radio Philharmonie, the KLK string orchestra of Lviv, Ensemble Neue Musik, and many distinguished soloists.
He has received numerous international awards, including the Théodore Gouvy Prize in 2023 and first prize at the “A. Schnittke” competition in 2019. In 2022, he released his first monographic album, Solo and Chamber Music, with Aulicus Classics. In 2023, he founded Ensemble Theia, based in Salerno, where he serves as artistic director.
His works are published by TEM – Taukay Musical Edition, Edizioni Stradivarius, and since 2023 by Edizioni Suvini Zerboni. He currently teaches Composition at the “U. Giordano” Conservatory in Foggia. 
Additionally, he holds a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, earned in 2019.
