This recording documents a “particularly packed and sweaty one” in September 2018, when local selector Ribeka joined club mainstay Call Super for an intimate rinse out at Glasgow's La Cheetah. Ribeka warms up for the first 90 minutes before Call Super takes over to close.

Mong Tong 兄弟3人組，他們聽著電子琴音樂、電玩配樂和迷幻搖滾長大。從民間傳說到外星人為題材，創作自稱的「迷信音樂」。

Mong Tong are brothers Hom Yu, Jiun Chi and 仝. They listened to what they describe as “Dianziqin music” along with video game soundtracks and psychedelic music. 

These inspirations combine with Taiwanese folklore and a love of conspiracy theories to form what they describe as “superstitious music.”

“A mixtape of unreleased music and a few collaborations with friends which I thought would be a perfect mix for a Monday listen.”

KMRU, also known as Joseph Kamaru, is a sound artist originally from Nairobi and currently based in Berlin. He explores sound to convey various interpretations in his work, drawing from his listening experiences in Nairobi and beyond and grounded in the discourse of field recording, noise, and sound art.

Working under the guidance of Jasmine Guffund at Berlin’s Universität der Künste (better known as UDK), KMRU looked at waveforms and embarked on a process where he would “write scores from the shapes, gradually turning the scores into raw synth sounds.”
 

Kamaru’s ambient-experimental music has taken him to the Barbican, Berlin Atonal, Présences
électronique, and seen releases on Editions Mego, Subtext, Seil Records.

His new LP ‘Dissolution Grip,’ released on his OFNOT imprint, marks a shift in his approach, blending field recordings with synthesized sounds, hinting at his evolving musical direction.

With all that in mind, we thought we’d ask Kamaru to put us together this week’s mixtape for a Monday… let’s get stuck in.

I was blessed to play midday Saturday again. Daytime allows so much freedom, but 90 minutes is too short. This is a rerecording of my set. I changed the order of a few tracks, added four more that I wanted to play but didn't have time for, and let the key ending track breathe for its full 15 minutes.

No tracklist this time at least for now, but happy to ID anything.

Thank you Skiplogic, Gabe Benzur, Tdel and Shawn O'Sullivan for your influences on this mix.

Owner and Electronic Explorer in Danza Nativa.

The creativity of Forest On Stasys is Influenced by tribal minimalist techno in the nineties and the deepest and most abstract techno currently. In his tracks the most seductive elements are the use of resonant basses perfectly combined with long and reverberated pads, extensive sonorous landscapes that are modified by continuous movement of LFO, solid grooves and strident percussions.

But not everything that comes out of his head is created with an intention to be used on the dance floor. He has a great admiration for drone and ambient tracks, without a rhythmic pattern that predominates, where the main factor is to captivate the listener with melodies that can be marked by a strong melancholy or with notes that give a certain feeling of satisfaction depending on his current mood.

At the beginning of 2019, he released his first work 'A Vision Of Light' in Danza Nativa, where currently he is one of the pillars of the label based in Buenos Aires.

Forest On Stasys 는 Danza Nativa 의 오너이자 전자음악의 탐구자이다.

그의 창의성은 90년대의 부족적 미니멀 테크노와 최근의 깊고 추상적인 테크노에 영향받았다. 그의 트랙에서 가장 매혹적인 요소는 공명하는 베이스들과 길고 리버브된 패드, LFO 의 운동과 견고한 그루브 그리고 격렬한 퍼커션으로 지속되는 광활한 음향적 랜드스케이프의 완벽한 조화이다. 

하지만 그의 머리에서 나오는 모든것들이 댄스 플로어를 위한 것은 아니다. 그는 리듬적 패턴이 없고 청자들에게 강한 멜랑콜리 혹은 현재의 기분에 의존하는 느낌을 선사할 수 있는, 매혹적 멜로디들을 가지는 드론과 앰비언트 트랙들에도 훌륭한 영감을 가지고 있다.

2019년 초에, 그는그의 첫 번째 작업 'A Vision of Light' 를 그가 부에노스 아이레스에서 운영중인 Danza Nativa 에서 발매했다.

Oslated Mix Episode 200 - Forest On Stasys

I visited Pikes in Ibiza and played a set of the music that inspired my Bed Wetter album, as well as the sounds that are informing my ongoing work for Sage Gateshead as their artist in residence for 2020/2021.
I also performed live for the first time, playing some of the early sketches from the performance I'm writing which will debut next year.
