Es ist ein Klassiker und macht trotzdem immer wieder Spass. Seit es Reggae gibt setzen sich die Musiker für das gute alte Weed (Hanf) ein. In der Schweiz haben wir mit „The Good Weed“ im Jahre 2008 bereits das erste Ganjaanthem veröffentlicht. Damals vom mittlerweile etablierten Cookie The Herbalist. Nun legt unser Neuzugang Redwan Fayahwan nach und präsentiert auf einem Beat von Max Rubadub den Song „Gimmi Di Weed“.
Mit „Gimmi Di Weed“ veröffentlichen wir die erste Zusammenarbeit zwischen Redwan und Gideon Production, und der erste offizielle Release seiner Karriere überhaupt. Das er nicht klingt wie ein Anfänger liegt an seiner Vergangenheit in Ghana und dem harten Kampf um einen Platz in den dort sehr seltenen Studios. Seine Erfahrungen hat er auf den Strassen Afrikas gemacht und diese kommt ihm nun zu gute.
Anders erging es ihm in der Schweiz wo er seit 2011 zuhause ist. Es war als hätte man ihn hier bereits erwartet. Seine Bühnenpräsenz und seine Energie machen ihn zum perfekten Gideon Production Artist und auch DJ Flink (Tafs) war von Anfang an begeistert und produzierte kurzerhand einige Songs mit ihm. Diese werden wir schon bald als Debüt Ep des energiegeladenen Singjays veröffentlichen.
Von Redwan wird man also ab sofort des öfteren guten Sound zu hören kriegen und live hat er der Schweizer Reggaeszene längst bewiesen, das mit ihm zu rechnen ist.
Der Riddim zu diesem Song ist übrigens eine weitere Eigenkreation unseres Hausproduzenten Max RubaDub. Aufmerksamen Remix Fans wird nicht entgangen sein, dass der selbe Beat schon die Grundlage zu einem bereits veröffentlichten Remix von Max RubaDub ist. Es handelt bei dem Riddim um eine seiner gelungenen Mischungen zwischen Reggae und Hip Hop, die Tanzbar ist und in einem sehr internationalen Kleid daherkommt.
„Gimmi Di Weed“ ist das neue Ganjaman Anthem für die Schweiz und Ghana und wir sind stolz euch mit so einem Tune unseren neusten Act präsentieren zu können.
