I am the adult child of an alcoholic. You captured the tortured spirit of my father in "Hello Old Friend". He was a good man, a flawed man and a man trapped in his head. His memories of a poor childhood, in both love and money, the Korean War and the combination of those experiences prevented him from resting without a good quantity of Scotch each day. I don't know that he ever came to some peace about those things before he died as a middle aged man from heart problems that had caused him significant pain since age 30.
