Canadian born Sheldon Thompson AKA Sid Le Rock has been wowing music lovers with his unique electronic fusion sound since first bursting on to the scene almost 10 years ago. Based in Germany for the last decade, Thompson has been a musical inspiration for many, with a string of stunning releases through leading labels such as Ladomat 2000 and Shitkatapult. As well as recording a trio of artist albums for these imprints, he has been behind the creative and successful Cereal/Killers and Beachcoma labels and has had an extremely prolific decade with his Pan/Tone moniker.

Now the one time Toronto resident is joining forces with what is undoubtedly one of the cities leading record labels, the much-lauded My Favorite Robot Records. MFRR (as it’s known to its friends) has been around for 4 years now, but it is in the last 6 months that the label has made the leap from 12” single releases to full-length albums closing out 2012 with long players from the both Jori Hulkkonen and the excellent Fairmont. Sid Le Rock’s ‘Busted With a Bag of Bliss’ will be the label’s first LP of 2013 and is set to be their biggest album to date.

Thompson opens up this latest musical opus with the deep and emotive ‘Here We Are’ and sets the tone for the rest of LP with a fusion of haunting vocals and synth lead electronica. The album comprises 11 original compositions that take in the outer realms of pulsing techno, vivid electro and evocative retro fuelled soundscapes. From the dark refrains of ‘Nomad’ to the near euphoric synth melodies of ‘Bag of Bliss’ and onto the arpegiated 80’s rhythms of ‘Trans-Am Radio’ there is a genuine diversity here, yet the whole things is tied beautifully together by Thompson’s rock solid production and vision for the album as a whole.

‘Busted with a Bag of Bliss’ is without a doubt a stellar addition to the My Favorite Robot Records catalogue, fitting as it does with the label’s musical ethos of twisted dance/indie fusion. For Sid Le Rock it is perhaps his most accomplished LP to date and is certain to set fires alight when it hits the streets in the spring of 2013, enjoy.

This italian biologist and musician has already released with us 2 eps in the past and we're really happy to welcome him back on board. In this new installment for Factor City he delivers two great original tracks. Stunning Stars is a musical journey where you can listen his early detroit techno influences combined with driving percussion and padded riffs which build and build. Fluorescences is a tech-house roller with 80s inspired synths and a seductive ambience that remind us to some music released on the Italian Pigna label. Sid Le Rock, who's just released a great album on My Favourite Robot records, drops an amazing remix of Stunning Stars, a beautiful piece of music that combines dark undertones with epic melodies and a glowing ambience. Bleeping Sauce is the new live band project from esteemed Minus and Items&Things duo CLICK BOX who have teamed up with the highly talented Eli Iwasa & Marcos Taga. Presented here is a new EP from them on Meant that showcases their dynamic sound, it comes with three original tracks and a set of tasty remixes by Remote, Matt Walsh and Villanova.
Brazilians Marco A.S and Pedro Turra have been on top of the techno and minimal worlds since 2006 thanks to their inventive and abstract sounds on only the finest labels. This new project shows they have another feather to their bow and sees them explore a sinewy, lovably machine made sound.
‘Sounds and Stories’ goes first and is a space-age bit of dark wave tech funk with layers of gurgling synths, stark drums and a cool female vocal that adds tons of punk attitude to proceedings. Ivan Smagghe or Andrew Weatherall would lap this sort of tune up with its gothic disco vibes. ‘Set Time’ is another great bit of dark and dirty disco with searching synths, apocalyptic atmospheres and purposeful, live sounding drums. It squeals and shoots in many different directions at once as a corrugated bassline ties the whole thing together. Then comes ‘Cherry Green’ with more aloof sounding female vocals, 80s dark wave drums and rubbery guitar lines. It’s a fine bit of work that sounds like little else out there and is beautifully sombre in mood.
First remixer Remote is a musical duo made up of Eric Guillanton and Seb Fouble, a pair recognized as one of the figureheads of the French electro scene. Their take on ‘Cherry Green’ is a filthy dirty, scuzzy and serrated synth laden slo-mo electro track that will send the ‘floor into raptures.
Next up is Matt Walsh, the Brit famed for being a unique sonic craftsmen who often DJs with Daniel Avery, is a Bugged Out regular and releases on Turbo and Phantasy Sound. His take on ‘Sounds and Stories’ is a moody late night affair with dazzling synth stabs, cooing female vocals and swathes of lovely echo and reverb that lend the track a hazy, dreamy air.
The young duet of Parisian producers that is Villanova, of labels like No.19 Music & My Favorite Robot, goes last with a remix of ‘Cherry Green’ that is turbo charged and tumultuous with big drums, spaceship like synths, bleepy melodies and generally manic robotic charm with an anthemic female vocal line up top.
With this release MEANT introduce the world to what is sure to be an essential new project from the Click Box boys.

It gets confused with blurred vision, but clouded vision cloudy is a completely different ailment altogether. 
Things appear ‘milky’ as if you’re looking through a cloudy piece of glass in one or both eyes. It also dulls perception of colours and cause you to see halos around lights, which can be beautiful but doesn't make it easy if you are driving or operating heavy machinery.
As well as this it is the mighty label run by Matt Walsh which has signed up the most explosive act from York since Guido Fawkes, Tecwaa. Cutting his teeth on Jo Howard's Sulk Magic label, Tecwaa, also known to some as Paul Fawcett has been creating waves in recent months.
His latest EP contains the track 'Always and the End', which has been lovingly recrafted by label head Matt Walsh who together build a dystopian piece of disco which digs deep with pads, live sounding drums and a vibe which is primed to warm dancefloors in the coming winter months.  Already getting the seal of approval from the 'Guvernor' Andrew Weatherall, it looks like Tecwaa's star is rising.
Go listen, buy and love it. Because it's the right thing to do!

Purple Disco Machine - My House - OFF060 cut

Matt Walsh’s inter­est in DJing and pro­duc­tion was fos­tered in the late 1990′s, while he was at uni­ver­si­ty and pro­gres­sive house was at its peak. Fast-for­ward a cou­ple of years, a new decade her­ald­ed the birth of Elec­tro­clash and with it DJ Hell’s Gigo­lo Records, City Rock­ers and Play­house. As Matt began to devel­op his trade­mark sound of mod­ern dis­co-infused elec­tron­ic house and tech­no, an offer of a res­i­den­cy at East London’s sem­i­nal T‑Bar club set off a chain of events that would lead to Tur­bo Record­ings don Tiga spot­ting him there in 2007. He then became a long term res­i­dent of Bugged Out! and Tur­bo and has since toured the globe alone and with oth­er artists.

Matt’s record label, Cloud­ed Vision Record­ings has seen releas­es from tal­ent from all cor­ners, includ­ing Red Axes, long term friend Daniel Avery and many more. His two mixed com­pi­la­tions “The Cloud­ed Vision Exper­i­ment” received crit­i­cal acclaim from Mix­mag, GQ and DJ Mag.

Since relo­cat­ing to Mar­gate in 2017, Matt has been busy opening The Tap Room and has trans­formed one of Margate’s secret spots into a boom­ing small bar, where you can expect to see local and trav­el­ling DJs play­ing every week, as well as a great mix of cock­tails and craft beer.



In 2023 Matt reignited his old clubnight "Movement" which was originally formed with Daniel Avery back in 2011. The new version is held quarterly at Faith In Strangers, Margate and the first three sold out parties have seen Erol Alkan, Daniel Avery , Optimo and Richard Fearless join Matt on the decks for the night. August will welcome Manfredas to Margate for the first time and some very exciting collaborations are to follow in 2025.
