On ‘Skybox’, the fifth and final single before the release of his album ‘Close Distance’ on April 8th, FloFilz collaborated with UK jazz supremos Blue Lab Beats, who recently have stirred a wave with the release of their album ‘Motherland Journey’.

‘Close Distance’ literally means “near in space or time” (or “nah dran”, as we say in German). The 16 songs on ‘Close Distance’ came to life over the past two turbulent years. It is no exaggeration to say that FloFilz has not only created another inspiring album with ‘Close Distance’ but one that demonstrates how music can close the distance which we all have experienced (and still do) in a beautiful way. With features by UK Jazz supremos Alfa Mist and Blue Lab Beats, London R&B artists Jerome Thomas and KeepVibesNear, long-term musical partners Summers Sons & C.Tappin, UK Jazz/Hip-Hop trio Dal & Cape Town Neo-Soul singer and songwriter Hunter Rose. ‘Close Distance’ will be released digitally and on LP with artwork by Indonesian illustrator Fatchurofi.

Exposed to music from a young age, FloFilz grew up in Belgium before moving to Aachen, Germany where he studied the violin and classical music, while also playing in orchestras. In addition to his parents, who were both musicians, he cites Hip-Hop icons A Tribe Called Quest, J Dilla and Madlib as key influences. Recognised as one of Germany’s most in-demand producers, the self-taught bedroom beatmaker has built his reputation led by his seductive blend of Lo-Fi, Soul and Jazz-influenced groves. Taking great inspiration from London's Jazz scene he has previously collaborated with the likes of MF DOOM, Alfa Mist, Barney Artist, Ivan Ave, Blu, JuJu Rogers, Biig Piig, K.A.A.N., J.Lamotta and K, Le Maestro.

Do you know the Alhambra, the beautiful palace and park complex in Spain? Moorish, Islamic architecture in southern Europe. The convergence of different cultures inspired me to compose “Alhambra" for my first album “Driftwood.”

My 20th Anniversary album, "After Midnight". All R&B/Chill Soul/Downtempo, releasing in a few weeks. I have been working on this album for the past 7 years. I produce/record/and design sound for many genres, however, R&B has been in my DNA all of my life. I plan on working on R&B for future albums too. I am very happy that I've been able to work with Alfa Mist on this one. It's the third and last single before my new album "Transit" releases on June 14th and probably my favourite track off of it. We recorded all of it together in Alfa's studio in June 2018 except for the violin outro which I later recorded at my place.

FloFilz' third album for Melting Pot Music is deeply inspired by the UK jazz and hip-hop scene. ''Transit'' features collaborations with Alfa Mist, Barney Artist, Biig Piig and K, Le Maestro.

''Transit'' will be available digital and on LP (limited gatefold edition includes a 20-page photo booklet by Robert Winter).

''Jazz (We've Got)'' was the title of the second single from A Tribe Called Quest's iconic album ''The Low End Theory''. It was released in 1991, the same year FloFilz was born. Similar to Tribe FloFilz resurrects jazz for a new generation. He has been doing this for a while now and is pretty good at it, as you might know if you are familiar with his previous works “Metronom” and ''Cenário''.

In 2019 things have changed. Today jazz is not only about diggin' old records and learning about Bird and Trane. Jazz is very much alive and the city of London has become one of its epicenters. The UK jazz scene is happening because it is deeply connected with hip-hop, soul and club music. A perfect setting for FloFilz. Over the last 18 months, he has collected serious Eurostar miles, heading from Aachen to London - going to gigs, hanging out with musical allies and recording new material.

This is why he calls his new album ''Transit''. Through 18 tracks FloFilz translates the current London vibe in his very own style and fashion and I dare to say that ''Transit'' may be the best album he has treated us with so far.
