Michael Nyman &amp; David McAlmont - Secrets Accustions &amp; Charges - Max Cooper Deconstruction/Reconstruction

I wrote these two remixes as a pair, starting only with two audio files, one orchestral part of all the strings, piano etc, and one vocal part of David McAlmont singing. It wasn't easy to tame the parts into an electronic format that I was happy with, so I opted to cut everything up into tiny segments and reconstruct my own track which ended up really different from the original - my "Deconstruction" mix. Then I was faced with the problem of exactly that, that the remix sounded nothing like the original, so I then tried to reconstruct back to the original from the parts I had made - my "Reconstruction" mix. It was an interesting production exercise I guess, not an easy remix job, but hopefully it yielded something interesting.

Max Cooper is an electronic composer, multi-disciplinary artist, music label founder and former scientist who has carved out a unique space in music and visual art.

He holds a PhD in computational biology at the same time as being the first contemporary electronic musician to perform at the ancient Acropolis theatre in Athens and one of the first clutch of musicians to produce in Dolby Atmos.

Cooper has enquired for over 15 years through music, collaborations, and his label Mesh, to explore the intersections between the arts and sciences with installations, performances, immersive experiences, online media, music videos and live events.  Anchored throughout is his emotive approach, connecting how ideas and forms feel, in a manner accessible to us all. 
 
As an artist synonymous with the evolution of club culture, Cooper honed his craft as a DJ with a 10 year residency at legendary Midlands techno event Firefly where he formed a foundational relationship with Architecture Social Club, with whom he still collaborates on extravagant immersive installations.

"I want to encourage the acceptance of electronic music as an art form like any other. Bringing electronic music and abstract audio-visual projects into concert halls, museums and galleries is liberating - the art world opens up doors to communicate in ways that aren’t possible elsewhere."
  
Pivoting from computational biology to electronic music might not seem like the most natural career transition, but for Cooper the commonalities are obvious:

Brook Gee was born on October 25th 1989, in New Zealand. His passion for music started from a very young age when he learnt the guitar and started to play in various rock, pop, jazz and blues bands as the lead guitarist. He developed a strong musical ear due to many years of teaching, performing and playing guitar. It wasn't until later on in 2009, when Brook moved to Australia to start his Bachelor of Music, when he stumbled upon the world of electronic music and instantly had a new obsession. His main goal was to produce his own music, get DJ's playing his music throughout the world and eventually start DJing himself. Currently Brook is contributing much of his time to music production and has made countless originals ranging from House, Tech, Progressive and many more. His first work was released in 2012 by label iBounce Records. In 2017, his chart topping track, Never Let You Go signed to Matrix Music Records, reached number 13 in Switzerland's dance charts.
