What a year for Lake People so far. Apart from several excellent releases and remixes, like his outstanding interpretation for Chymera's classic “Caprica Burning”, the Leipzig-based act is busy playing gigs around the globe. Earlier this year, he had his first South-America tour, North America is following this summer. His low-key and touching live-performances obviously work excellently. 

We are now more than happy to present the next Lake People EP. Four tracks, no remixes and each of them a pearl on its own. 

“Into” goes a bit in the direction of his hit “Point In Time” On Krakatau, while “Stepwise” and “Come Over Later” reminds of the timeless electronic approach of Acid Jesus or Soylent Green releases on Klang Elektonik. The soundscapish “Trace Missed Call” rounds up the release perfectly.

"Inter Aural" is the epic builder for this EP. Their Fx treatments and plenty of teasing climaxes... spitting out futuristic and alienated synth pads… embedding them in soundscapes with a very cinematic sound design: This all makes it a powerful piece of hypnotic music and definitely a highlight on this EP. Other than that it is simply a perfect track to loose yourself in… it offers a highly seductive "comfort zone" of tasty sounds. This is a track you can dance to in the clubs as well as listen at home.

More Like Trees - For Sure Feat. Reeps One (Bara Bröst Edit)

Given it's not so long since my last remix of the German duo Microtrauma, you might think it's odd that I've done it again? Well, I wasn't planning on doing this mix, but when I heard the original track with that amazing, simple but effective arpeggiated riff I realised I had to do the mix! It's always easy when you have such a strong starting point, I just added some of my own flavour of beats and glitches and pads, and structurally I went for a live feel, playing in most of the parts and modulation as I went along - It yields a slightly messy, but natural feel I hope. And I added a second set of kick drums in the off kick position, so at points the real kick drops out and it sounds like everything has shifted half a beat....just for the craic.

Exclusive Julian Stetter 'Chorus'

Cologne based producer Julian Stetter, who recently contributed an edit for Kompakt's 'Total 17' compilation, makes his debut on Jennifer Cardini's label Correspondant with a six-tracker called 'Another'. The Torture the Artist exclusive 'Chorus' caused quite some buzz when Marcus Worgull introduced it to a wider audience in his Boiler Room set last year. A drifting bass line in combination with deep yet eclectic and recurring synth chords are the track's essential elements and create an elegancy in Julian's omnipresent preference for melancholic influenced music.

Julian Stetter's EP 'Another' including 'Chorus' will be out January 12th, 2017 on Correspondant.

Max Cooper is an electronic composer, multi-disciplinary artist, music label founder and former scientist who has carved out a unique space in music and visual art.

He holds a PhD in computational biology at the same time as being the first contemporary electronic musician to perform at the ancient Acropolis theatre in Athens and one of the first clutch of musicians to produce in Dolby Atmos.

Cooper has enquired for over 15 years through music, collaborations, and his label Mesh, to explore the intersections between the arts and sciences with installations, performances, immersive experiences, online media, music videos and live events.  Anchored throughout is his emotive approach, connecting how ideas and forms feel, in a manner accessible to us all. 
 
As an artist synonymous with the evolution of club culture, Cooper honed his craft as a DJ with a 10 year residency at legendary Midlands techno event Firefly where he formed a foundational relationship with Architecture Social Club, with whom he still collaborates on extravagant immersive installations.

"I want to encourage the acceptance of electronic music as an art form like any other. Bringing electronic music and abstract audio-visual projects into concert halls, museums and galleries is liberating - the art world opens up doors to communicate in ways that aren’t possible elsewhere."
  
Pivoting from computational biology to electronic music might not seem like the most natural career transition, but for Cooper the commonalities are obvious:
