Helius Zhamiq : Ambassador of Extremes

Helius Zhamiq envisages only the borders, there where the music and his public can know all the seesaws. DJ, composer, producer, party organizer, graphic designer and plastics technician: the artist is kaleidoscopic, the work is abyssal. Alchemist, he gives to his listeners the choice of doors to open .Le rest is affair of perception.

Contemporary music, speedcore, music for child, metal, breakbeat, experimental: that the flask matters! Because the drunkenness is promised thing. To listen to Helius Zhamiq live, it is to attend the shock of formulae. How to explain the meeting so flowery of the violence and the melancholy, the intensity and the serenity, the explosion and the fertilization?

The co-founder of the K-Bal Sound System, the pioneer from the 90s, has a big experienced of the public. He knows the manipulation of the live feelings. The technology is for his service in live and in studio. Prolific, he produces vinyl, CDs and  DVD alone or in association with the other land surveyors.

I would describe my DJing style, as occasionally bizarre, but frequently mad hahaha... Have recently roped one of my best friends into the mad circle too, and he is a very good student when he actually listens...

My DJing journey began in 1994, and my initiation into the Rave scene was coerced by the likes of The Prodigy, Altern 8, SL2, and I'm not embarrassed to say 2 Unlimited were inspirations too... My first gigs were actually as a Youth Club DJ, where I would get into bother from the youths if I played anything other than Mr Vain and Star Trekkin, but I think I won some of them over with the harder beats.

My musical tastes broadened when I attended my first festival at the start of 1995. For the next 2 years Rezerection was like the best thing to ever come into my life, opening doors up to legends like Tom Wilson, Scott Brown, Mallorca Lee and Marc Smith (total legends of the Scottish Hardcore scene). By 1996 however, my music taste had evolved again, and I threw myself headlong into the Dutch Rave Scene, the reason.... the beats were harder (purely and simply), although I still celebrate the Scottish scene, my love for all things Dutch grew, I couldn't get enough of it.. Artists like Neophyte, Ruffneck, Paul Elstak rapidly became favourites...

In late 96, I had had a few minor gigs, but nothing materialised after that, so I turned my hand at trying to make music instead, using a dodgy old PC, and some music production software, I put a few tracks together, I tried to make them sound like early Dutch hardcore, and they did sound pretty good but unfortunately the PC had a breakdown at the amount of music I was making, and the hard drive fried, killing off these tracks. In 1997, I continued to try and put together some music, but got a bit of a block, so went back to the DJing again. In 1998, my life situation changed, as I became a father for the first time, so I decided that music, djing and partying would take a backseat. Time passed and by 2002, I had a family of 3 young kids, so while I would still occasionally put music together, but nothing to release into the world. Fast Forward to 2007, I was no longer married, but had recently met someone else, and i had been working on music for roughly 5/6 months by this time, and I FINALLY managed to make a break through, with a TRANCE track of all things, which I had uploaded to some forums, and it managed to get some air-play on some online radio stations, and was voted best New Release for 2 weeks in a row, as before the hard drive I had the master on fried, but I had been able to get it uploaded to YouTube before this happened. After this I made a few more, but mostly just previews, then in 2008, I  performed with others at the first Fantazia Forum Bash, A friend and myself banged out some classics (my friend done this) and I tried to do an early hardstyle set, but I was pretty rusty by that time, having spent so long away from the decks, BUT I had discovered another genre that would take my world by storm. Enter Hardstyle, was similar to Happy Hardcore in a way, happy melodies, bassy jumpy kicks, and some awesome basslines. I am and always have been and will be a Hardcore head, but with Hardstyle my head was turned, even more so when I decided to try and produce it myself. The Hardstyle Maniax was well and truly formed in 2010. I released the tracks, My Fantasy and The Maniax Anthem, which are on my profile, they are my early attempts, and although the premise is there, they sound very rough. I didn't care much about how my tunes were sounding at that time, by 2019 I had more releases, then I released a banger This is A Rave, Jeremy, in 2019, and the hardstyle and rawstyle influences can be heard in that song. In 2020, The Future and Keep the Crowd Happy were released, giving me hope I was doing something right in the Hardstyle and Raw arena. Into 2021, I decided to do my first remix, of one of my own tracks, of course it was This is A Rave, Jeremy (2021 Refix), which is totally different to the original. And has a lot of admirers for its differences.

Also since the Pandemic in 2020, I have been performing live stream DJ sets online, I don't really care about how many people are watching, I just rather enjoy getting to put myself out there, and if people enjoy the sets or I have viewers it just adds to building my profile further. 2024, I decided to teach my good friend Roy (aka The Blue Demon) how to DJ, we started with Trance, as most trance songs are easy to mix, but have steadily progressed up the scale, his favourite style is UPTEMPO, another genre that has slowly grown on me over the months. In April 2025, Roy and I did a 2 and a half hour Easter set, called A NIGHTMARE BEFORE EASTER (which is nw on my profile). In which Roy had a go at Hardcore, which he did enjoy, but he says he enjoys Uptempo the best... Here is to more from me over the next few months, I will hopefully have some new music out soon, also ANOTHER REMIX is expected to drop too.
