a heads down session from london-based dj, producer and label owner dyslecta who delivers this week’s 909 mix. a mix filled with tension, swirling rhythms and wonked-out drum patterns - it’s a masterclass in building pace and letting the restraint lock you in before the heaviness is unleashed. 

from the rolling fields of east yorkshire to the thrum of london’s dancefloors, dyslecta’s story is stitched together by tapes, family lore, and a deep, instinctive relationship with sound. raised on a steady diet of hardcore, techno, and trance blasting from his parents’ rave collections, his earliest encounters with electronic music were less about clubs or community than about atmosphere. his productions and mixes channel that same sense of place and texture: raw, shape-shifting worlds built from fragments of loops, hardware experiments, and a visual imagination that maps sound to colour, rhythm to landscape. with his label tenuous links, launched earlier this year, dyslecta continues to expand on this vision, with an aim to champion artists who thrive on curiosity and experimentation. 

in the interview below dyslecta talks about the constant learning and experimentation of being an artist, how growing up in yorkshire influenced his sound, and the process behind his productions - from starting with a sound to creating an atmosphere or world with it and being able to visual and feel the track he’s working on.
