TakeOut Music -Electronic Sound Designs to Take You Out, best listened to with good headphones or earbuds.

TakeOut Music is the result of 35 years of experimenting with sound (including lots of listening ;) ). It started in San Francisco in the 70s, including recording loads of electronic music, playing live with a notorious punk band (really miss the Octave Cat/RE-201/Flanger combo), and being a member of several experimental electronic bands. During a period of "musicus interruptus", I completed an EE degree and got a day job in Silicon Valley for 20 years and my energies went to product designs and the music creations stopped.

In a state of burnout in 2002, I filled my basement with classic analog gear and got back to what I love and probably increased my lifespan significantly. I would build live songs by programing each synth/device, running them all through a huge mixing console, and then recording onto a DAT drive (still have 17 120-DAT tapes to go through to hear all the music made in this period). In a quest for a peaceful environment, left the large house in the Boulder suburbs to live in the amazing Rocky Mountains. My huge collection of vintage analog gear had to be scaled down, and that made a lot of EBayers very happy.

This new collection of music here on SoundCloud is a result of the redesigned studio using computer-based software tools. I didn't totally lose my mind, my beloved Korg Radias, DSI Pro 2, Wavestation EX, Moog Sub 37, Korg MS-20 mini, Eventide H9 Max, TC Electronics M-350, Arturia Beatstep Pro, Arturia Microbrute, Arturia Keystep, Arturia Drumbrute, Yamaha MX49, Korg Minilogue, Roland SH-201, Roland System-1m, Novation MiniNova, and Alesis SR18 populate my new space as well as all the MANY virtuals and emulations, etc. TakeOut Music is a concept I had in the 1970s, for "Music To Take You Out'. It relates to various states of consciousness, energy, vibration, and frequency. I mainly define the categories as: Atmospherics, Holding Patterns, and Motions.

My wish is that these synthetic sound designs bring enjoyment to others!! This is the first time I've felt compelled to share these with others and hope they are taken with the love in which they were created.

Born in the north of the United Kingdom, I started playing when I was young.
The music I create now is mainly electronic, covering many styles. Ambient, electronic, dance and experimental styles. My influences? There are so many, to be honest. Everything from classical, electronic and dance to more experimental. The more obvious are German experimental electronic artists and a lot of well-known ambient musicians.
My inspirations are taken from the people I love and trust. It’s with their understanding and help that I am able to create music.

I've become addicted to drone. Again. I was the kid with his head on the piano, listening to the overtones die away, or pressing his ear to the steel hull of the ferry, enthralled by the sounds it created. I was the kid who formed wordless songs to accompany the sound of train wheels on a long journey, or hummed along with the fan on a hot day.

In the 60s I used to play my 45s on 16, or backwards, or by hand using razor blades as stylii.

I made cut-up tapes on a cheap cassette recorder in the 70s and experimented with reel-to-reel in the 80s.

I am not a musician. I am a scavenger of sounds. I use the most basic software to process those sounds, stretching and filtering until something emerges that makes a joyful noise. Or not...

Glenn Sogge recently retired to his childhood home on 6+ acres in the Pacific Northwest after decades of school, work, family, pets, and soccer refereeing in the Chicago area. Early in his career, he studied with Luciano Berio, Tom Willis, Jack Burnham, Frederic Rzewski, and Sonia Landy Sheridan. He also collaborated on performances with Robert Moran. The sounds of birds, wind, streams, squirrels, chickens, and the occasional coyote define the soundscape he is now immersed in. The woods and nearby mountains both obscure and highlight the horizons every day. Glenn has done collaborations with Cousin Silas, Candy L, Marco Lucchi, Lutz Thuns, Boson Spin, Jaime Munárriz, Tuonela, grum-pe, and many others in addition to extensive solo work. A recent activity has been creating the artwork for album covers for himself and others.
