Genius Collective evolved from 7 musicians' love of soulful, funky music. Effortlessly blending Hip Hop, Jazz and more, Genius Collective create good vibes and get every crowd moving through honest lyrics, beautiful vocals and funky rhythms! Regularly fronted by the sultry sounds of Kezia Soul, Zoe Green and Carvalho alongside a host of other top notch guest vocalists / instrumentalists, and complimented by GC's MC and producer Vice, these guys and girl are a funk force to be reckoned with!

Currently working on a number of collaborations with Great Scott (Radio 1 & 1Xtra Supported), Why G? (Zulu Nation) and DME / Da Mighty Elementz to name but a few, GC are spreading the musical word across the country this summer, with gigs and festivals planned in Birmingham, London, Bristol, Norfolk, Harrogate and more. With a number of exclusive online releases and remixes set for release before the end of the year, Genius Collective are rapidly on the rise, steadily building new fans and an ever growing musical family.

‘Almighty’ is the debut album from BBC New Music Award winning jazz / soul / electronica ensemble Maylight. The eight strong collective takes in the vocal talents of ex-Tru Thoughts vocalist Lizzy Parks, pianist Rob Barron whose resume includes session work for the likes of Jay Z, Kanye West and Jay Electronica and BBC Performing Arts Prize winning saxophonist Mary Wakelam. On trumpet are Aida Severo’s Joe Egan and Percy Pursglove, a first class graduate of Birmingham Conservatoire’s jazz course who has played for groups including The Duke Ellington Orchestra and The Coltrane Ensemble. Trio Tekke’s Colin Somervell appears on bass. Dave Holland Award winning drummer Jim Bashford, (currently playing for multi-platinum selling jazz vocalist Katie Melua) also appears.

The album is produced by BBE signing Chris Read whose work includes productions and remixes for the likes of Grammy Award winning vocalist Algebra Blessett, hip hop man of the moment Oddisee, Tokyo Dawn-signing Pugs Atomz and the Pharcyde. Adopting a collective approach to writing music which draws on the members' diverse backgrounds and musical influences, the resulting mix is one which references soul, electronica and more with an underlying jazz influence.

In the group’s brief history, Maylight have played live shows at venues including Birmingham Symphony Hall’s new city center live venue and London’s Queen Elizabeth Hall to a sell out crowd as part of London Jazz Festival. 2015 saw the group’s first releases, a remix for Grammy Award winning vocalist Bilal and two tracks featured on ‘All Night’, a collection of productions and remixes by the group’s producer Chris Read.
