Under the Counter Mix

This mix was created for the /r/classicstrance comp, the prompt encouraging one or more rare tracks (hence the 'under the table') pre-2008 trance with no other restrictions. Freedom! I've been itching to make a classics prog set for a while anyway. This set leans in to that classic late 90s prog sound, although it reaches in to the EE era as well. Journey prog was always my favorite and likely always likely will be. Shame the genre is nearly non-existent in 2023. I wanted this mix to be dreamy and a bit more emotive than some of the mixes I've made lately. This mix really takes its time as well, so sit back for the ride. There are some footnotes to explain the rarity or composition path for some of the tracks below. 128-137bpm. Enjoy.

**** 2023 update to a remix/masher I made a few years back. Wanted to resurrect this one for a while. I would not usually dissect such pristine tracks, but I noticed a few years ago that Lost Tribe's 'Under the Red Sea' and Darey's infamous 'Wizards of the Sonic' Remix were made from the same ingredients. Had to cook up a new recipe with them. This is a longer version with a remaster.
***** 2023 update to an outro remix. This update has more elements of the red sea and extended.
****** I thought I could use the Solarstone Pure Intro as it is 2011 remix of a 1999 track, but alas, I missed a rules clarification for modern booties only. This hybrid was made to get around the rules.

A classic trance mix that I recorded in March of 2023 for the "From Under The Counter" mix competition in r/ClassicTrance. Said competition involved making a trance mix with rare/bootleg tracks. Enjoy!

* Unreleased remix to an amazing original. I could never get a high quality version of either mix despite my groveling to Marc on Facebook. He needs to unearth these unreleased tracks!
** Unreleased track by Leon Bolier, not to be mistaken for the goa trance act from the 90s. Armin's brother Eller van Buuren features on the guitar. It's been said that Eller wasn't happy with his playing so the tune never went any further. Though there is another "Progressive" version on YT.

Under The Counter Classic Trance Reddit Mix

Sydney Rave History is a collective Facebook group for Sydney ravers, clubbers & DJs to connect and reminisce through streams and events. They hold a Livestream marathon spanning 3 to 4 days every long weekend, which is usually reserved for Sydney DJs to share their musical memories. As a UK ex-pat DJ, it was a huge honor to have played alongside some true Sydney DJs legends during this Easter Long weekend streaming marathon. This is my interpretation of a rave history set, based upon my experience growing up in the early 90s, UK.
