Part 1 of the 3rd project by Calgary rapper Monarch. HE/\RT is a Double EP meant to capture and greatly expand upon the musings of Monarch's previous projects: Before December Ends: The Freestyle Files and The Black Butterfly Mini-LP. Part 1 of this project is specifically inspired by the upbeat vibe of Freestyle Files, consisting of introspective yet uplifting lyricism matched with beats reminiscent of the 2000s Calgary rap scene. This is the first set intended for performance by the rapper.

I don't normally make this kind of song and I wanted to improve my skills in that area. This track was mostly for practice.

I'm out of things to talk about so I made this fictionalized account of myself seeing a girl like that and making a song similarly but instead of fawning over her, our fictional butterfly instead sees that there's more to life than the lady that caught his eye.

I really miss my childhood friends. I let too much time pass without seeing them and to be truthful its one of my few regrets in life, but I'm really setting out to reconnect with those people that were there during my craziest days, because they're all deserving of love and even if not all of them are friends with each other anymore, they're all still friends to me and I'll love them till the end of my days.
