The lead man, Doc Brown, is back on Unlearn:Records with his first single in well over a year with a ridiculously chewy slice of ghetto tech house, backed up with a remix from LA's Point Set. The tune is an absolute monster: menacing & foreboding with some of the gnarliest, crunchiest synth lines you're likely to hear this year, alongside a warped vocal & Doc's trademark punchy drums. One the remix, Point Set adds a bubbling bassline & a touch of swing to take this beast into slightly lighter territory, but make no mistake, it's still a hell of a ride! We've been sitting on these two for a while & couldn't be happier to finally release them.

This was a remix I did with two of my closest mates, Tom Howell (aka Q45 / Diamond Lights / Yes Yes Records) and Lefroy Verghese (DJ Ritual). We finally made some time to get in the studio together and drink loads of red wine (hence the name). This was one of those records that just came together really easily. We were so stoked with the result and it was amazing to see this become a bit of a breakbeat anthem at the time. I’ll never forget dropping it at Field Day in Sydney and seeing a few thousand people sing along! It was always such a great track to end a set with, happy vibes!

Well where do i start ? Commonly known as “The Godfather of Breaks” Rennie Pilgrem’s contribution to the early Nuskool Breaks scene is outstanding and given this title is often considered responsible for the creation of the Nuskool Breaks genre. Before moving into breaks Rennie produced techno and acid house and was part of the influential rave group Rhythm Section along with Ellis Dee. Rennie is also the boss of Thursday Club Recordings aka TCR a label which he founded in 1993 which was a major force in the Nuskool Breaks scene. Now concentrating more on his talented art skills Rennie has stepped back from the dance scene and continues to produce some great works of art.

Remixed such artists as James Zabiela, D-Nox & Beckers, Deep Dish, Lee Coombs, Stephane K, Phil Kieran, U.N.K.L.E 

He has run (as a label manager/A+R & recording artist) the highly influential LOT49 & Whole 9 Yards (W9Y) imprints.

In June 2013 Mark started a Podcast series ‘Lowering The Tone’ which in 2016 morphed into a Progressive Techno Label.

He now records exclusively for Lowering The Tone and is currently working on his fourth artist album, he still hosts Lowering The Tone podcast & also co-hosts ‘Setting The Tone’ (Podcast) with Ben Coda.
