'This song was the lead track from David Bowie's 1980 'Scary Monsters' album. It is, in my opinion, one of the best pop songs ever written. I had to do something drastically different from the Bowie original, so this clever and beautiful string quartet arrangement by my violinist and string arranger Anne Marie Kirby provides the perfect backdrop to reinterpretation.' -James Cook.

REVERSE ENGINEERING (VOL. ONE)

Reverse Engineering (Vol. One)' is a selection of some of James Cook's favourite and most influential electronic/new wave artists from the late 70s early 80s. 
The phrase 'Reverse Engineering' is a scientific term about taking advanced technology that is beyond one's own understanding, taking it apart, discovering how it works, then creating your own new version from the knowledge.
That is exactly what James Cook is attempting with each song of this covers series: Creating an 'alien twin' of the original version by dissecting and redesigning the original.

'Reverse Engineering (vol. one)' will also be accompanied by three music videos. The first of which was 'Treason' released on April 9th. The next video, 'Ashes to Ashes', is set to be released in mid June.

All songs of this covers series will be available as free downloads and released prior to James Cook's second studio album which is planned for release at the end of 2013.

BBC 6 Music Round Table winners and former members of Norwich art-rock/indie-pop outfit Bearsuit.

Mega Emotion are the robe-wearing cult that build dense layers of sound looping both live and electronic drums against synths and scuzzy guitars. 

They have won Steve Lamacq’s Roundtable on BBC 6 Music, seen their demo material play-listed as a 6 Music Recommends track of the week, and been championed on XFM and by BBC Introducing.

Live, they have played for John Kennedy’s Remedy showcase in London, and supported the likes of Acid Mothers Temple, Shonen Knife, Melt Banana, Thumpers, Lonelady and Yuck.

Their debut single Uncomfortable was released on cassette by Post/Pop Records – who have released cassette tracks by Everything Everything, Pulled Apart By Horses, Ash, Johnny Foreigner and We Are Scientists.

Their split debut vinyl album 'Move Motherf*cker' (with their grunge alter-egos Lady Di) is scheduled to come out this summer.
