what i refer to as the body archive is that very felt space where dream meets memory meets body intelligence. this meditation is a guide into those depths, utilizing water imagery to take us there.


suggested use:

* don't be in a rush.
* shake for 5 minutes beforehand
* lie comfortably on floor/bed/mat/couch, knees bent with feet flat. this position allows your body to release, and is restorative for the areas that often feel pained in modern living (lower back, neck, shoulders). of course, you're welcome to adjust however your body desires.
* imagine this as a guided, extended savasana
* could be nice after smoking
* finish with some sort of expression (ex: freewriting, typing, speaking into a voice recorder) because you will receive information and it is worth recording in some way or it will be lost. like dreams, we tend to discount the information of the body archive, and our intuitions, because we're taught that it isn't important! often the information can be quick, fleeting, and wordless -- all things that our HyperVerbal, HyperProductive society explicitly devalues.

a brief outline:

- i explain a bit about the body archive
- cues to establish safety and get more comfortable in your body
- releasing/settling cues: releasing breath, softening the body, allowing - self to be supported/held by the ground (or whatever is beneath you). water imagery begins here.
- float: allowing images & dreams to come to you.
- stirring internal waters: humming for 2 full minutes (note i did not hum alongside you, i chose to keep the 2 minutes silent to allow you to focus more deeply on your internal vibrations. i find it can be distracting to hear someone else's hum on audio)
- tuning into the currents in your body. their movements, their colours, their directionality, their texture. i cue a number of body parts to help with this process.
- notice anything that's coming up! image of yourself on a raft riding your internal waves.
- pause in an image/memory that's coming up for you (with guidance towards picking one that feels good). we spend time here exploring the sensory aspects of the memory, and charging up on the memory.
- slow emergence from internal depths. first we come back to the breath, and then slowly allow attention to notice the room around you, eventually slowly opening your eyes and re-entering the world.
