Michael Gray is a hugely respected and established British DJ and music producer, best known for his hits ‘The Weekend’ & ‘Borderline’ He is also one half of the dance music production and remixing duo 'Full Intention' who have been at the forefront of Dance music since the early 90s.

London-based Michael is one of the most in-demand Artists on the global dance music scene today. Having relaunched his solo career as Michael Gray in 2018 to pursue his original love of Disco, Michael has already become the world #2 Soul/Funk/Disco Artist on Traxsource - an incredible achievement and a worthy accolade for Michael's world-class production skills.

An expert selector and connoisseur, the ‘gentleman DJ’ understands the history of the music that he plays and that he’s playing it for a new generation altogether. He’s been instrumental in the establishment of popular disco nights such as his own XOYO in London, while his remixes of disco classics have been burning up dancefloors across the world. About to headline a show for Mark Knight’s Toolroom at Studio 338 this week, we sat down to chat with the dance music icon about his history, his work, and about why disco will always endure.

ABOUT BORDERLINE
Borderline is a small, perfectly-formed club night in Surbiton, in south-west London.  It was started by Greg Middleton in 2018, inspired by a growing demand from his friends to have a have a proper night out in the local area with great tunes and positive vibes.

This has grown into one of the area's best-kept secrets...where the music is king, the atmosphere is electric and you will only hear about it on the grapevine.

And as you might have guessed, Borderline is named after Madonna's classic song from the eighties. And if you've heard one of Greg’s sets, you will know that an extended, epic version of this track is a guaranteed floor-filler and takes the roof every time. It's a great example of the type of music you'll hear - a classic track that's been reworked for today's dance floors, bringing back happy memories, but with something new.

Borderline is all about feel-good, dance floor fillers...and not much gorgonzola! Expect classic house, disco, soul, funk, boogie, hip-hop, R&B, and maybe just a few 80s and 90s pop treasures for good measure - plus lots of edits and remixes to keep things fresh and unpredictable!

Greg is back on Friday 26th September at SWG3 with his Super Weird Happening event. 

Part of a series of 5 Super Weird Happenings as summer shifts to autumn (the others taking place in Manchester, Bristol, Liverpool and London), this is an 8 hour event unlike any other, which takes in talk, live art, visuals, photography, a Blind Arcade performance, and a 3 hour Greg Wilson DJ finale.

Melting Pot is one of the longest running clubs in the UK (16 years and counting in 2017), giving DJs such as Floating Points, Mr Scruff, Greg Wilson, Joey Negro, Danny Krivit, Joaquin "Joe" Claussell, Francois K,  and Cosmo the opportunity to play whatever they feel: disco, house, techno, funk, soul and beyond. None of this would be possible without the fabulously knowledgeable Glasgow dancers that have taken us into their hearts. The final ingredient is the attention to detail we pay to our sound system which has made it one of the best sounding anywhere, with our guests raving about it!
