Meltway is back with an epic new single “Disarray” on December 7th. The single is lifted from their upcoming album “Nothing Is Real”, which will be released on February 9th, 2024.

“Disarray” is a mesmerizing shoegazey song with blasting guitars, curious arrangements, and soaring pop hooks, where vocalist Mathias sings quietly about his intrusive daydreams and self-disorientation. His voice vibrates in an almost shy fashion and melts with the enormous noises from his guitar, as if unsure about what is real and what are just noisy distractions. That is until the chorus where the vocals switch from introversion to desperation. “I want you now!”, he suddenly sings longingly, from the bottom of his lungs, amid a shivering instrumental explosion from the band. There seems to be no indication as to who the “I” and the “you” are, which ultimately works in favor of the confusing daydream that permeates throughout “Disarray”.

Formed in late 2018, the at the time 4-piece band pursued the stylistic vein of the 90’s shoegaze scene with crusty distortion guitars, progressive drums, and supremely airy vocal figures. Only two years after their formation, the band self-released their lo-fi-heavy debut EP, Everytime; a daydreamy handful of songs with alluring atmospheres of heartbreak and self-disorientation, that was quickly discovered by the legendary platform KEXP through their digital sale on Bandcamp.

Based in Esbjerg, Denmark, Meltway originally consisted of vocalist/guitarist Mathias Hammerstrøm, bassist/vocalist Mikkel Schmidt, guitarist Thomas Brunbjerg and drummer Magnus Bjørnsen Rullestad. When Thomas spent a year abroad in Estonia in 2020, the band recruited guitarist Kristoffer Møller as a stand-in. As Thomas returned, they realized they couldn’t let Kristoffer go, and Meltway became a 5-piece band with 3 guitars. This made it possible for them to further develop their delicate sense of sound craftsmanship and songwriting.

Meltways' forthcoming debut album, Nothing Is Real, is a strikingly infectious collection of explosively driven songs. Warm blankets of noisy guitars and oceans of reverb melt with Mathias’ angsty, yet liberating lyrics. Recorded in Esbjerg at Tobakken Studio, mixed and engineered by Mathias, and mastered by Slowdives Simon Scott, Meltways' full-length album will be released in 2024.
