A recording of my live set from my release party with Chinabot for Echoes, May 16th 2024 at Fitzroy, Berlin, Germany.

Aphex melancholia with grungey shoegaze forays and gamelanic accoutrement, melodic science fiction that’s at once kind, heavy, magical and playful.

All original material with only 2 vocal samples and one drum loop. Many of these sounds are processed granularly with a spring-loaded XY joystick controlling multiple parameters at once, particularly around reverb decay and size.

Culled from old hard drives, YouTube rips, Bandcamp purchases and unreleased material.  

Featuring Arab-influenced Indo/Malay music, deconstructed gamelan, psychedelic Occitan and Turkish folk, keroncong and closing out with a specially blessed, unreleased jaipong footwerk remix of Waldjinah’s ‘Kembang Kacang’, recorded in 1967.  Also in this mix is Mother Bank, whose members are from a COVID-born experimental mobile bank in Jatiwangi, Majalengka, West Java whose activities also include recording music together.

This mix also features unreleased recordings I made with friends using slendric tuning developed as part of Latent Sonorities, a project exploring the tuning systems and musicology of Rumah Budaya Indonesia Berlin’s (RBI) Javanese gamelan.

Radio Alhara: Codex Club w/ Memeshift - 13/02/24

Between 2006 and 2007 I assembled this mix of songs I'd been working on in the tiny town of Columbia, California.  I was a little adrift and stayed with my mom in an old, A-frame cabin, chopping wood to stay warm during the winter.

I lived in the top part of the house and there was a cute little pulley system my mom and I made.  She'd often make coconut soup to hoist up to me while I worked on my tracks for this, so thanks a lot mom.

These are all original tracks, made with Ableton Live 4/5, a Yamaha PSR-36 and an Alesis Micron on a Powerbook G4 using the line input.

20 Seconds Radio - Episode 19 (2/9/25) on Archipel Stations

Dmytro Filatov’s project is a radical exploration of sound: raw, uncompromising, and performance-driven. His work moves freely between musique concrète manipulations, club-rooted rhythms, and synthetic intensity, always pushing towards extremes.

With a background in diverse collaborations, from electrodub to spoken word processing, his solo sets focus on existential and sonic self-discovery. Subbass pressure, meditative states, and sudden dives into horror define his approach, where freedom of form is essential.

This podcast is Filatov’s first, built entirely from his own unreleased material created over the past year. Ranging from almost-generative synthetic experiments to live-tested tracks, it reflects the variety and spontaneity of his process. Written with his trusted Elektron Digitakt, Model:Cycles, and Ableton, the set mirrors the live energy he values most: space for improvisation, breaking structures apart, and reassembling them with intensity.

Expect unbalanced sounds, distortion and an uncompromising journey into Filatov’s sonic research.

Morgan (he/him, USA/DE) is a practice-based music researcher whose output sits in the experimental field between academia and club music.

His work spans live electronic music, curation, lecture-workshops, panel discussions and the development of sample packs, tuning systems and other musical strategies to engage with materiality, diaspora, and the thoughtful resynthesis of new/traditional music.

Morgan's music productions draw from an archipelagic range of influences and intrinsic reverence for experimental computer dance music that can be described as playful, abrasive, promiscuous, feral and eclectic.

Last year, he released his debut album on Chinabot, which The Wire called "…a gently vaporous hulk of melancholia."

Morgan has performed at Cafe Oto, presented at CTM Festival, co-curated Soydivision's long-running Soy&Synth series, organized an online album co-release festival with folk-doom metal band Senyawa and 44 labels (mentioned in NYT, CDM), and was interviewed by Ableton about Latent Sonorities, a project that expands public access to sonic heritage for transcultural experimentation and research.
