Tying Mendiants down to a genre hasn't been the easiest of tasks.
The 7 piece outfit started out with Soul music at the forefront of their agenda, but their debut 'Beggars EP' would surely suggest that the band have been experimenting well within the perimeters of Funk, Rock and Hip Hop. Be it an intentional move or not, at times being referred to as 'Aggravated Easy Listening' is proving to shake crowds left, right and center.

Lyrically intriguing with tenderly beautiful vocals, the songs of Little Sparrow are projected with honesty and passion. Little Sparrow released her debut album ‘Wishing Tree’ in 2014 – which featured brand new tracks along with those that had already become live favourites - each song beautifully created with the power to capture the imagination and warm the heart.

2018 saw a return to music for Little Sparrow after the birth of her son in 2016. As well as a gentle return to playing live, Little Sparrow released a new 3 track EP called 'Just 3', a collaboration with pianist and composer Robin Dewhurst (father to Josh Dewhurst from band Blossoms), and cellist Sarah Dale. Katie met Robin at Kendal Calling in 2016, they both performed at the Tim Peaks Diner and were asked to cover 'Baggy Trousers' by Madness by the Tim Peaks Team. This created a lovely new musical relationship which went on to create 'Just 3'. Robin also performed with Little Sparrow at The Bridgewater Hall, Manchester, in late November which saw the year off beautifully. 

2019 will see the long awaited release of her second album, and a return to live performances. Watch this space!

Trumpet player, Noel Langley's debut solo album, Edentide, was released by Suntara Records on the 30th of June 2014.

Noel has been at the forefront of the British music scene for nearly thirty years, enjoying a career as a performer, composer, arranger, producer and educator. Renowned for his versatility, he has worked with many of the world’s top symphony orchestras, big bands and recording artists, and has performed in over sixty West End productions. 

Identified as an exceptional talent by Leonard Bernstein, whilst studying at the Guildhall School of Music, he went on to establish himself as one of this country’s finest lead players, performing with jazz greats such as Sir John Dankworth, Tim Garland, Hermeto Pascoal, Andrew Hill and Harry Connick Junior. He founded the London Jazz Orchestra in 1991 and played lead trumpet on Loose Tubes’ award winning album, ‘Dancing on Frith Street’, released in 2010.

Noel is currently a member of the virtuoso ensemble assembled by contemporary classical composer, Graham Fitkin.

Recently Noel has been performing and recording with Radiohead, is featured on the record breaking album ‘21’ by Adele and has been directing and arranging music for the Swing Out Sister Big Band, for concerts in London and the Far East.
