Love Parade - Join The Love Republic - Berlin Germany - 21-07-2001

The Love Parade (German: Loveparade) was a popular electronic dance music festival and technoparade that originated in 1989 in West Berlin, Germany. It was held annually in Berlin from 1989 to 2003 and in 2006, then from 2007 to 2010 in the Ruhr region. Events scheduled for 2004 and 2005 in Berlin and for 2009 in Bochum were canceled.

On 24 July 2010, a crowd crush at the Love Parade in Duisburg caused the deaths of 21 people, with at least 500 others injured. As a consequence, the organizer of the festival announced that no further Love Parades would be held and that the festival was permanently canceled.

In 2022 the Love Parade was revived under the name Rave The Planet.

Tresor (German for safe or vault) is an underground techno nightclub in Berlin and a record label.

History:

The club was founded in March 1991 in the vaults of the former department store Wertheim at Leipziger Strasse 126-128 in Mitte, the central part of East Berlin, next to the Potsdamer Platz. The history of the club goes back to 1988 when the electronic music label Interfisch opened the Ufo Club in Berlin. Ufo was the original centre of Berlin house and techno, but due to financial problems that club closed in 1990.
After Ufo closed, Interfisch's head, Dimitri Hegemann, and some investors in the club found the new space in East Berlin. This was advantageous timing, as it was only a few months before Germany unified. The vaults under the Wertheim department store proved to be the perfect location for a club, and Tresor quickly became the place to be in Berlin. Tresor continued to be a popular club, having expanded and reconstructed continuously several times to include an outdoor garden area, and a second "Globus" floor. The Tresor floor in the basement was reserved specifically for hard techno, industrial and acid music, while Globus was featured mainly more mellow house sound. The record label Tresor Records was founded soon after the club first opened, in October 1991. Featured artists on the label include Jeff Mills, Blake Baxter, Juan Atkins, Robert Hood, Drexciya, Stewart Walker, Joey Beltram, DJ Surgeon, Pacou, Cristian Vogel and many others.
In 2004 the documentary "Tresor Berlin: The Vault & the Electronic Frontier" was released. Directed by Mike Andrawis, it features interviews with Hegemann, Carola Stoiber, and DJs & artists associated with the club & label. The film covers the period from Hegemann's involvement with the Fishladen and UFO clubs in Berlin-Kreuzberg to the final months prior to Tresor's closure.
Tresor closed on 16 April 2005, after several years' prolonged short-term rent. The city sold the land to an investor group to build offices on the Leipziger Straße location. It was open for each night of April 2005, with the final event starting the Saturday night with queues stretching all the way down the road, and still going Monday morning.
Tresor reopened on 24 May 2007 in the decommissioned southern tract of the combined heat and power plant Heizkraftwerk Berlin-Mitte in Köpenicker Straße. 
Since November 2019 the club has a subsidiary in the city of Dortmund called Tresor.West. 
In September 2022, Tresor published a photobook, Tresor: True Stories, to document the past 30 years of its history.

We Invited warmly Syntax Error to record a 1h Techno mix for us. The mix is a Vinyl-Only handwork.

SYNATX ERROR:
Exactly this world of the deep and groovy techno music is the well-known territory
of Christian Schachta aka Syntax Error. Having started as techno DJ in the late
90ies, he soon found his very special sound favoring deep wobbly bass lines,
harsh snares, FM tones and drones, deep bass drums and tricky percussion.
Like a syntax error, he breaks with commonplace regularities and creates a
wholly new sound experience that is highly recognized within the techno scene.
Each of his releases is an authentic, passionate creation of sound always
mirroring some experience from his personal life – whether it’s from his
adventures at sea or during journeys in the underground dj life enthusiastically
roaming the techno club scene.
Christian also engaged in a couple of new techno projects besides his signature
alter ego Syntax Error, like the experimental techno satire Classic THE FIST as
well as the project 7Function and SYER.
In the beginning of the 2000s he started his label Snork Enterprises, which is a
base for modern underground electronic techno music. It&#39;s not at all about being
pretentious or arty for the sake of it. It&#39;s about real depth on the dance floor. Short
and sweet: very snorky! It&#39;s a journey with friends such as Cristian Vogel, Neil
Landstrumm, Phil Kieran, Jens Zimmerman, DisX3 aka Alexander Kowlaski,
MasCon and many more from the techno scene having dedicated themselves to
an uncompromising, stunning beat to go even further on a trip to the instantly
exceptional, experimental sounds, ranging back to various roots of electronic
underground.

Naked Lunch PODCAST #222 - A.PAUL

Handmade's DJing is perfectly tuned to the Globus wavelength. An integral part of the Tresor resident team since 2009, he developed his own blend of timeless dance styles on the rocky Berlin terrain.

However, this was not developed entirely in the German capital, on the Spree river, but also by another large body of water: Lake Michigan. Spending time in the birthplace of house music was enough to get lost in one of the richest dance music narratives of the planet, making his way through entire record collections. The combination of abundant sexiness and spiritual depth, etched into the vinyl of Trax, Dance Mania and Cajual, seemed to parallel a core basic human instinct about the experience of fun. In these records from the American midwest he found pure hedonism cast into black plastic. 

In terms of club experience however, the Berlin night scene remained second to none and with ravenous hunger he returned to his homeland. Ever since Handmade has channeled this drive into what has become his explosive trademark DJ style: deep and dubby-grounded à la Detroit, with the jacking stabs of Chicago influences and occasional deviations into tougher or more soulful soundscapes. This stylistic set-up allows him to adjust perfectly according to each night’s context, if necessary breaking it wide open: two indispensable qualities of a resident DJ.
