Imagine and Feel that you become the earth: a seed germinating, a bud flourishing, a caterpillar transforming. This sound journey was played live during the 'Sound & Consciousness' exhibit, inside a life-size cocoon, emulating nature's rhythms through sound collaging and guided visualizations by Mari Sierra.

Becoming Earth - a soundscaped journey to soften urban consciousness

For this our sixth Botanas single series we have the pleasure to present two stunning original tracks and one beautiful edit from Canadian producer Oonga (who you might have spotted on our Mare Insularum compilation). Oonga is a DJ/producer from Montreal who works with Stonetree Records. 

Opener El Caracol is one of the most personal tracks the artist has ever made. It is based on a poem written by Eli´s (Oonga) dad and dedicated to him. It was written after the two of them had a really deep conversation about hidden pain and then months later his dad showed him the words, and he was extremely moved and so created this beautiful track. 

This inspiration came at the same time as Oonga's exposure to the neo-folkloric slow cumbia tech sound while travelling. He put the two together and this special Botanas was born. His dear friend Ana adapted the words into Spanish and sang the melodies (as well as doing the art). 

Oonga´s music captured our ears right away and these three tracks are the perfect soundtrack to the end of the summer for those of us in the norther hemisphere or to welcome the end of the Winter and brighter times for all those down south!

This production was originally intended for a project with Quincy Jones. In the end, it didn't make the final cut. And as they often do, extra tracks that for whatever reason don't fit a project entirely go straight into your library for other uses.  This is my take on the classic hymn, "Amazing Grace". Hope you enjoy.

DHARMONY :: Intro

Mushrooms Project are the kings of the mid tempo and they do deep, druggy, chunky, sometimes more balearic, sometimes just more freaky music better than anyone else.

Their approach is hallucinating and all encompassing and is made up of the analogue sounds of guitar, bass, synth and percussive layers to create a dirty but unique background.

Their new ‘Undergrass’ album is a melting pot of all their influences and is a straight up journey through the mesmerizing and unusual minds of the Mushrooms.

Undergrass is released on gatefold double vinyl with a bonus 10” featuring remixes of ‘16823’ by Brennan Green and Mudd.

Brennan takes his mix into the electro boogie sounds of an 80’s New York while Mudd brings out the guitar, layering up his own production with equally devastating effect.
