Many may not know that the original House of the Rising Sun lyrics were written in the 1920s and represented a song popular with American miners of the day. The lyrics differ somewhat from the popular versions recorded in the '70s. Since the original lyrics were written 100 years ago, the song is now copyright free as long as renditions do not infringe on previous artists. This version does not.
